From the rice fields to the online market.
I was born into a farming family; rice farming was our main occupation. Since I was a child, I saw my parents selling paddy rice to the mill for 8-16 baht per kilogram…which, let me tell you, was very low compared to the labor and costs involved, including machinery, fertilizer, and labor. So I thought, “Why don’t we add value ourselves?” Luckily, our family already had a small rice mill. Plus, our rice is Surin Jasmine rice, a premium product from the province known for its unique aroma and soft texture. We also have brown rice suitable for health-conscious individuals and those with diabetes. So I started creating my own rice brand, selling directly without middlemen, and doing all the marketing myself while still studying. All of this was inspired by my studies at Sripatum University, which taught me how to think, do, and create. That’s the charm of studying in the right field—you don’t have to wait to graduate to start a business and turn your dreams into reality!
Start your brand easily with a class at SPU.
When I started my brand, I planned my time to fit in with my student life. Working after classes didn’t affect my studies at all. SPU has entrepreneurship and digital marketing classes that helped me understand how to plan a business and do online marketing in a practical way. It was immediately applicable and yielded clear results.
Start a business with the right idea + practical knowledge.
I chose this business idea because of my connection to watching my parents farm since I was a child, and rice is something familiar that I eat every day. I wanted to build upon something I truly knew. When I entered the Business Administration faculty at Sripatum University, there were business courses that helped me understand planning, identifying target customers, and clearly defining my business objectives so I could start implementing it. For my initial market testing, I chose health-conscious individuals as my target group and started selling through friends, local markets, and online. As sales increased, I adjusted the products and strategies based on real-world needs. I learned all of this from the entrepreneurship courses, which allowed students to experiment with real-world sales, enabling them to develop a project into a well-established brand.
Dream big, act fast! Nothing is impossible!
I want to encourage all of you who have dreams to dare to act, dare to try and fail, and learn from real-world experiences. Experience will teach you what works and what needs adjusting. I believe nothing comes easy if you don’t try. Have faith in yourself, because no one in this world is incapable; they just haven’t started yet. If you’re interested in the SPU Business Administration program, here you’ll learn through Project-Based Learning, building businesses in the digital age. You’ll have real-world business experts and faculty members to guide you every step of the way, allowing you to start, experiment, and own your own business while still studying.
