In a world where law plays a role in every aspect of life, choosing to study law is not just about selecting a faculty, but about choosing a life path. One story that reflects the meaningfulness of studying law is the journey of “P’ Peach,” a law student at Sripatum University, who grew up inspired by her family and proudly followed in her grandfather’s footsteps to become a lawyer.
When my grandfather’s stories sparked my journey to become a lawyer.
Peach explained that her interest in law began with small conversations at home. Her grandfather, a police officer, often used legal concepts to explain everyday life. Although she initially didn’t understand or show much interest, listening to him repeatedly gradually turned her curiosity into a liking, shaping law into a part of her future dreams.
The stories my grandfather told me about studying in the “first graduating class” of the Faculty of Law at Sripatum University reinforced my decision to study there. The open learning environment, the invitation of real lawyers and prosecutors to share their experiences, and the intense academic discussions convinced me that this is an institution that instills “living law,” not just textbook literacy.
For Peach, pride doesn’t stop at studying at the same university as her grandfather, but at carrying on the family’s legal profession, with her grandfather as a role model of a lawyer who stands for justice.
The law curriculum at SPU today clearly reflects modernity and meets the needs of the contemporary world. This includes the use of digital media, reducing rote learning, increasing learning through real experts, and conducting field trips, not just confining the classroom.
Another important source of support was the professors and senior students who were always ready to provide friendly advice. Students could ask questions about both legal provisions and career paths. At the same time, many professors shared their real-world experiences in the legal field in the classroom, which became an inspiration and helped Peach clearly envision her future.
“Supporting learning in the modern world, especially the application of AI to legal education, greatly enhances the value of learning. Students can use technology as an aid in research and understanding complex issues, alongside learning from professors, thus elevating the quality of learning to keep pace with the times.”
Finally, Peach would like to advise high school students interested in law that law isn’t as scary or difficult as you might think. Studying at the Faculty of Law at SPU is a solid starting point, offering opportunities to begin from scratch. With genuine dedication, a warm learning environment, and many successful alumni, choosing to study at SPU is a source of pride and the first step towards becoming a quality lawyer for Thai society in the future.
