SPU accounting students review their internship at a national organization, AOT, revealing shortcuts to success!

Many people ask, “Where will I get to do my internship after studying accounting at SPU?”
Today we’ll introduce you to “P’ Baimon – Thantip Kreuathi,” a real scholarship recipient from the Faculty of Accountancy, SPU.
Let’s share an exclusive experience from my co-operative education internship at Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), a leading organization in Thailand. I applied classroom skills to real-world situations on the SAP system. And importantly, what kind of personality and attitude helped me pass with flying colors!

How can students at SPU get an internship at AOT?

I did my co-operative education internship in the Accounting and Finance department, Revenue Division, as an Accounting Assistant, processing billing for bridge services. At that time, I was interested in both accounting, which I was studying, and the aviation business, so I looked for a company that combined both. I found AOT (Airports of Thailand) which was a perfect fit because it’s a large organization in the aviation industry with an interesting accounting system. I contacted AOT’s accounting department and prepared all the application documents for the co-operative education internship myself. I’m very grateful to SPU for giving me this opportunity to learn outside the classroom and experience the real world of work, which helped me develop much more than just reading books.

What are some practical skills learned in the classroom?

I was assigned to verify the use of aircraft boarding bridges by airlines before issuing invoices to clients, as well as preparing all necessary documents. This job requires meticulous attention to detail and accuracy because it involves the organization’s revenue collection. I used my accounting knowledge to understand invoice structures, along with my skills in using computer programs and accounting information systems. This helped me work systematically, reduce errors, and enhanced my readiness for real-world work.

To excel in accounting, you need this skill!

I’ve gained a much clearer picture of what accounting really does. It’s so different from when I was studying and only had simulated case studies. Working with real systems like SAP and managing accounting documents has shown me how precise and detailed each step needs to be. What I’ve learned is that accounting isn’t just about numbers; it also requires strong communication skills, teamwork, and shared responsibility to produce good and timely results. Anyone who wants to succeed in this field needs a variety of skills alongside their academic knowledge.

How to pass your co-operative education internship with a guaranteed 3/4 score!

If anyone is interested in doing an internship at AOT, let me tell you, don’t worry. The social environment and the staff here are wonderful and always ready to help. Even though it’s a large organization, the work atmosphere is great, and your mental health won’t suffer. What I want to emphasize is: remember to behave well, be punctual, and maintain a professional appearance. When I was about to start my internship, the faculty provided training on this, which was incredibly helpful. I want you to remember that you’re representing SPU students, so if you’re polite and behave well, the senior staff will definitely appreciate you. Don’t forget that these things affect future generations of students, so do your best!
