From Classroom Knowledge to National Cybersecurity Competition: SPU Students Demonstrate Technical Problem-Solving Skills in Capture The Flag Challenges
Three students from the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Program, School of Information Technology, Sripatum University, have achieved notable results at Thailand Cyber Top Talent 2026, a national cybersecurity competition featuring Capture The Flag (CTF) challenges in the Senior (University) category.
Student achievements:
- Kanokphon Pakmanee — 7th place nationwide
- Thanapon Suttisawat — 4th place in the Bangkok regional ranking
- Saranyapong Tripong — 4th place in the Bangkok regional ranking
The competition was organized by Thailand’s National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) in collaboration with Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and industry partners. It provided a platform for participants nationwide to demonstrate cybersecurity knowledge, analytical thinking, vulnerability identification, and technical problem-solving skills.
Through CTF challenges, participants applied cybersecurity concepts to practical scenarios, testing their ability to analyze systems, identify weaknesses, and develop solutions under competitive conditions. Such experiences are particularly valuable for students preparing for professional roles in information security and digital infrastructure protection.
For SPU students, the competition offered an opportunity to extend classroom learning into a nationally recognized skills-based environment. Their results demonstrate individual technical capabilities while highlighting the value of continuous practice, independent learning, and real-world problem-solving.
The achievement supports SDG 4, Target 4.4, by strengthening technical and vocational skills relevant to employment; relates to SDG 8, Target 8.6, through youth career preparation; and connects with SDG 9, Target 9.5, through the development and application of advanced technological capabilities.
Beyond rankings and recognition, these achievements represent important steps toward becoming capable cybersecurity professionals who can contribute to a safer digital future.
Sripatum University congratulates all three students for demonstrating the spirit of “Learn from Real Professionals, Gain Real Experience” through their accomplishments on a national stage.
