Third-year Computer Engineering students from the School of Information Technology at Sripatum University achieved Second Runner-Up at the AI Hackathon: Route Optimization 2026, themed “AI for Green Logistics.” Their innovative solution, TUI ROUTE, also earned the highest presentation score, demonstrating outstanding technical expertise and communication skills.
Organized by Bangkok University’s Faculty of Engineering in collaboration with SCG, the competition attracted 264 teams, with 30 advancing to the final round on 17 October 2026 at Bangkok University. The SPU team progressed to the final nine presentation teams before securing its award.
TUI ROUTE is an intelligent prototype for concrete production and delivery planning. It integrates factory production capacity, vehicle availability, traffic conditions, customer delivery schedules, and concrete usability constraints to optimize complex logistics operations.
Using a Hybrid Heuristic approach, the system generates and refines delivery plans, validates results through simulation, and presents actionable information through dashboards for managers, dispatchers, drivers, and production facilities.
In a four-day simulation based on SCG’s industrial problem and supplied data, the prototype met service-level requirements throughout the test and improved contribution margin by approximately THB 362,000, or 27.1%, compared with the baseline plan. These figures represent simulated results rather than verified operational savings.
The student team comprised Nattanicha Boonlon, Anuwat Phromnoi, and Wachirawit Chimkaew, who demonstrated skills in AI, algorithm design, software engineering, teamwork, and professional presentation.
Beyond the award, the achievement created a career development opportunity when SCG’s AI team leader invited Nattanicha Boonlon to consider joining the company’s 2027 internship program, connecting academic achievement with future industry experience.
The initiative contributes to SDG 4, Target 4.4 (Relevant Skills for Employment), SDG 9, Target 9.5 (Research and Innovation), and SDG 12, Target 12.2 (Efficient Use of Natural Resources) through industry-based learning, technological innovation, and resource-conscious logistics planning.
SPU continues to transform classroom knowledge into practical innovation, preparing future engineers to solve real industrial challenges through its philosophy: “Learn from Real Professionals, Gain Real Experience.”
