“P’Guitar,” an alumna of the Digital Media Faculty, Graphic Design major, Sripatum University, is bringing her “own style” to the walls of a city gallery. P’Guitar’s work was selected to be exhibited at CHIDLOM ART WEEK in the Artists Wall Gallery zone, alongside over 40 other Thai artists. This interview will take you on a journey to discover…
Sometimes…great opportunities don’t come from being fully prepared, but from simply saying, “Let’s give it a try.”
From a child who loved to "splatter paint" to having his work exhibited alongside Thai artists?
I’ve loved drawing since I was a child. I enjoyed sculpting with clay and playing with colors. From those small passions, they gradually grew into my own unique style. Then, I had the opportunity to exhibit at CHIDLOM ART WEEK in the Artists Wall Gallery zone, alongside over 40 other Thai artists. Even though I started as a “substitute” after someone withdrew, my courage to try exhibiting on the wall once led me to a place I never thought I’d reach.
“Middle of April” — A unique art style?
Her artwork is titled “Middle of April,” a simple name but full of meaning. “I named it after the time I was born, mid-April, which is very hot in Thailand, but in other countries it’s spring, when flowers are blooming.” The work therefore reflects a “beautiful contrast” between the intensity and the vibrancy. Regarding style, she honestly admits, “I didn’t intend for it to be like this, but as I kept drawing, it became my own unique style.”
SPU Digital Media: “A Space for Self-Expression”?
I chose to study Digital Media, majoring in Graphic Design, at Sripatum University because it met my needs regarding credit transfer from a vocational diploma. And I got to study what was right for me. One of my favorite subjects was CI Branding. “It was a subject where I got to design a lot, think a lot, and sketch a lot.” These things became an important foundation for developing my own style of work.
Want to promote your work by collaborating with an artist?
In the future, I’d like to collaborate with more artists and perhaps develop a wider range of styles, if I don’t lose my passion first! 555+
