Sripatum University today held the grand opening of SPU’s British College, its new international college in collaboration with the United Kingdom’s University of Wolverhampton and the world’s leading education company Pearson. SPU’s British College is aimed at raising the standard of education and providing a path towards achieving degrees from a top UK-based university right here in Thailand.
Dr Ratchaneeporn Pookayaporn Pukkamarn, President of Sripatum University, said: “The university’s main goal is to create well-rounded graduates who are enthusiastic in their pursuit of self-development and future success. One of our surveys shows that the Generation Y and Z want to learn a complete range of skills in order to prepare for changes in the 21st century, so we want to create an environment that is conducive to learning and inspiration as well as encourages practical experience and prepares them for increasingly international society,”
As a result, Sripatum University has founded SPU’s British College in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton (WLV), a leading university that dates back over 190 years and produces 4,000 new graduates per year. The academic quality of WLV’s qualification is of the very highest standard in the UK. This partnership, which includes multinational education company Pearson, will enable SPU’s British College’s graduates to be considered as WLV’s graduates as well.
Asst Prof Dr Wirat Lertpaitoonpan, Vice President of Sripatum University, said SPU’s British College offers three-year Bachelor’s degree programme in six fields, namely General Management, Operation Management, Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Accounts and Financial Management, and Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. Courses focus on assignment-based learning with emphasis on practical approach, allowing students to research, explore, practise and find solutions to real situations in parallel with in-class learning. There are also internships to develop necessary skills for their careers. Throughout the programme, students will be provided with knowledge, advice and supervision by a highly-qualified faculty of entirely foreign instructors. Upon graduation, the students will obtain dual degrees which are Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Wolverhampton and Bachelor’s of Business Administration (International Programme) from Sripatum, along with the Higher National Diploma from Pearson, all acknowledged by the UK’s and Sripatum University’s standards.
“Courses at SPU’s British College ensure inspiring approach to learning, innovative systems of assessment, personalised attention and continuous development so as to always be up-to-date and foster desirable skills for varied industries,” concluded Dr Wirat.
