IT SPU’s “Workplace Wellbeing Ready” Session Equips Fourth-Year Computer Science Students with Stress Awareness, Burnout Prevention, and Help-Seeking Skills Before Cooperative Education
In the world of software development, success involves more than writing functional code. Deadlines, workplace expectations, teamwork, and continuous adaptation can create significant challenges. Recognizing stress and maintaining psychological wellbeing are therefore important skills for future technology professionals.
On 6 October 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Computer Science and Software Development Innovation Program, School of Information Technology, Sripatum University, organized an online special lecture titled “Workplace Wellbeing Ready: Managing Stress and Preparing for Professional Life.”
The session was designed for fourth-year students enrolled in CSI498, helping them prepare for cooperative education and the transition from university learning to professional workplaces.
The university welcomed Flight Lieutenant Wichaya Phromsakha Na Sakon Nakhon, a lecturer in Psychiatric Nursing at the Royal Thai Air Force Nursing College, who shared professional knowledge on psychological wellbeing and stress management in workplace settings.
The learning session addressed three essential areas: recognizing stress and burnout, maintaining physical and mental wellbeing, and communicating difficulties and seeking appropriate support. These competencies can help students become more aware of personal wellbeing and respond constructively to challenges in professional environments.
For future software developers, workplace readiness includes adapting to organizational cultures, collaborating with colleagues, managing project deadlines, and learning unfamiliar technologies. Understanding emotional wellbeing alongside technical competencies helps students prepare for these responsibilities.
The initiative contributes to SDG 3, Target 3.4, by promoting mental health and wellbeing; SDG 4, Target 4.4, through the development of employment-related competencies; and SDG 8, Target 8.8, by raising awareness of healthy and safe working environments.
By inviting a psychiatric nursing specialist to share practical knowledge, SPU demonstrated its commitment to preparing students for professional life through a more holistic approach to education.
Career readiness is not only about delivering successful projects. It is also about knowing how to manage challenges, seek support, and sustain personal wellbeing while growing professionally.
Through its “Learn from Real Professionals, Gain Real Experience” philosophy, Sripatum University continues to equip students with the technical, interpersonal, and wellbeing-related competencies needed for a sustainable future of work.
