Seminar on Innovative Engineering: “Smart Building Energy Saving with Automative Fault Detection Diagnostics (AFDD)” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Denchai Woradechcharoen

Even though the current trend of designing energy-saving buildings is continuously being talked about through various media, the reason is that energy-saving buildings or green buildings have been proven to be able to create worthwhile returns for investors and building owners in the long run, starting from the design process, construction, and repair and maintenance.

However, the current smart building system in Thailand is still not able to be used with full efficiency due to many factors such as design problems, system control, and general public understanding that has not received sufficient factual information, resulting in the building’s energy savings not being as estimated, especially in air conditioning systems that have a high proportion of energy usage in large buildings.

This is the origin of the Automatic Fault Detection Diagnostic system, which has been researched and developed by Asst. Prof. Dr. Denchai Woradechjareon, a lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Sripatum University, to be integrated with existing smart building systems or newly installed systems in order to process data and automatically recommend control commands, instead of analyzing and controlling the system by building technicians or engineers.

The research has been developed from the collaboration of business establishments and the industrial sector, resulting in the collection and analysis of data from real locations, leading to the development of innovations that meet the needs of real users, as well as receiving awards from the Ministry of Energy and initial funding that allows for business expansion, with income circulating from academic work to full-fledged innovation.

Anyone interested in designing energy-saving buildings with intelligent control systems such as the Automatic Fault Detection Diagnostice (AFDD) system can join the lecture on this special topic.
