The knowledge dissemination project on “Design, Construction and Reinforcement of Earthquake-resistant Buildings for Engineers and Communities in Earthquake-Prone Areas”, led by Prof. Dr. Amorn Pimanmas, organized a workshop to transfer knowledge from research and practical training to create structural engineering readiness in earthquake-prone areas at Rajamangala University of Technology Lanna, Chiang Rai Campus, under the collaboration between the NRCT and the Council of Engineers. Approximately 100 people were interested in joining the training. The activities included a lecture on “Lessons from the Mae Lao, Nepal, Taiwan, Kumamoto, Japan and Ecuador Earthquakes to Prepare for Buildings in Thailand” by Prof. Dr. Amorn and a lecture on “Reinforcing House Walls to Resist Earthquakes” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Paiboon Panya Kapo, a researcher on the Earthquake Disaster Reduction Project in Thailand, NRCT, who reinforced brick walls in the building frame using perforated steel mesh and fasteners to make the walls a part of the force-relief, including a training session on reinforcing steel in beams, columns, joints and walls to be able to resist earthquakes appropriately by Asst. Prof. Dr. Preeda Chaimahawan and Dr. Phanuwat Choiklad, researchers of the project. Collaborating to share knowledge with local engineers, local technicians and students.
