‘Lay Go’ Lego Blocks, the ultimate innovation that meets the needs of 4.0 era buildings
Engineering advancements, imagination and passion for what they do have led Asst. Prof. Dr. Paichitr Phawan, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering and Urban Development, Sripatum University, one of the research teams and testers of lightweight interlocking blocks, together with Dr. Totrakul Yamnak for more than ten years under the ‘Construction Materials Research and Development Center’, Faculty of Engineering, Sripatum, to launch
‘Light Lego blocks (Lay Go)’ used for wall construction to solve the problem of brickwork craftsmen, reduce costs and reduce work time effectively, which is a major obstacle often found in the construction business. ‘Light Lego blocks (Lay Go)’ that were invented and designed, in addition to having a special shape that allows ordinary people who are not brickworkers to use this type of material to build walls more easily and quickly, walls made with ‘Light Lego blocks (Lay Go)’ also have grooves and channels in them that can be used to place reinforcing bars to form lintels and columns perfectly.
All of the work has been tested in a Lab Room supported by VT Alliance, which is a room for testing the construction of Lego walls the size of a real condominium room. We have also published pictures of a 2.40 meter long lintel made from Lego blocks reinforced with steel bars that has successfully passed the weight-bearing test with great satisfactory results. This is considered engineering progress that comes from the determination and passion for what we do of the faculty and staff at the Construction Materials Research and Development Center’ under the administration of the Faculty of Engineering, Sripatum.
