I came to Guangxi Minzu University to study at Mingming Orchard, one of the largest and most modern orange orchards in China!
This is not just an ordinary garden, but a leader in modern agriculture, covering an area of 2,000 mu, located in Wuming District, Nanning City, Guangxi Province.
From this study tour, Student Affairs gained both knowledge and in-depth experience in agriculture and international trade:
Tangerines (Oranges and tangerines) are the world’s largest-produced fruits and are of great economic importance, both in China and in export markets such as:
Thai
Vietnam
Malaysia
Indonesia
Canada — Specifically in Canada, the orchard has been continuously exporting fruits to global retailer Costco for over 6 years!
And what we are proud of is that “Thai green pomelo” (Thai green pomelo) is gaining popularity in China, especially in Guangxi.
Student Affairs listened to lectures on the fruit export process and international transportation, from sorting, packaging, export standards, to temperature-controlled transportation (Cold Chain) to maintain the best quality of fruit until it reaches customers abroad.
Here, modern agricultural technology is used to the fullest extent:
• Water Rain System helps oranges grow perfectly.
• Drones for spraying fertilizer and taking care of agricultural plots
• AI fruit sorting system that checks color, skin, weight, sweetness and blemishes
• The system monitors the temperature of the trees and reports results in real time to see if the oranges are ready for harvest.
