New Normal People Management

Returning to work after the nationwide lockdown announcement has caused many to worry about the second wave of Covid-19 outbreak. However, there are still many businesses that are still unable to return to normal operations due to social distancing measures. As for businesses that have been able to return to operations, it has caused great concern for business owners and HR departments. This is because they have had to change their entire working style to prevent the spread of Covid-19. In addition, businesses have had to pay a lot of money for working or living in a new way, or what we call the New Normal.

The first role of HR is to communicate to everyone in the organization to understand working in the New Normal. The first important thing that HR must do is to create a sense that employees can reach out to or connect with their colleagues and still feel like they are part of the team. In addition, HR must create positive motivation for employees amidst the crisis where many companies have laid off and closed down. When employees are confident in the organization and have positive motivation to work, it will result in employees working more efficiently than working from negative motivation. If the organization uses negative motivation to make employees work to their full potential during the Covid-19 crisis, the first thing the organization will lose is “talent” in the organization because these people already have special skills and expertise beyond ordinary employees. If HR uses negative motivation to make them work, these talented people will eventually be unable to take it and resign. HR must realize that there are many large organizations that want talented people in our organization to work with them. In the end, if that happens, the organization will only have ordinary employees because talented people have already resigned. This way, the business will be difficult to continue. In the end, the people who are most tired are probably the business owners and the HR department who have to recruit talented people to work, which is very rare these days, especially talented and good people who are in the same person.

However, positive motivation does not only mean good compensation, prize money, or bonuses. The most valuable positive motivation, apart from things and money, is to speak constructively to encourage, show kindness, help each other, create acceptance in the team, and make employees feel that they are the key to the team. This will make employees happy at work. When employees are happy at work, what follows is effective work results.
