The starting point of deciding to study accounting
After finishing Mathayom 3, I still didn’t know what career I wanted to pursue. I just thought that I didn’t want to be unemployed. So I opened a newspaper with job announcements. Every company had an opening for accounting staff. At that time, I thought that studying accounting would definitely not lead to unemployment. So I decided to study in a vocational field, a vocational certificate in accounting and a higher vocational certificate in accounting. At that time, I was working and studying. Since I didn’t have much work experience, I had to work in a field that was not related to the accounting field that I had studied.
When deciding to continue my bachelor’s degree, I chose a university that offered a continuing program and evening classes so that it would not affect my work. Sripatum University was the best choice, with a convenient location, beautiful atmosphere, and landscape. However, when I applied, I chose the Faculty of General Management because I was worried that I would not be able to handle accounting and would not be able to graduate. However, in my first year, I had to study introductory accounting, volume 1 and volume 2, and scored well. The teacher who taught accounting was surprised and asked to talk to him, and the teacher advised me that it would be better to transfer directly to the Faculty of Accountancy. Therefore, I decided to transfer faculties and graduated from the Faculty of Accountancy. I am still impressed to this day that the teacher is interested in the students and has given me good advice throughout my studies until I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy.
What I gained from university and work
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, I asked my supervisor to transfer my duties from my original job to the accounting department. In addition to my main job, I also do accounting work with an accounting office as a part-time job. My working life has grown steadily from the position of Officer, to the present, I am the General Manager of a public company listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (MAI). It is a company that provides non-bank loans, which creates opportunities to access alternative sources of funding for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Although my current job is not directly in accounting, all jobs require the use of accounting. In addition to my regular job, I also work as a consultant for accounting-related work. Accounting work is essential for every company. Therefore, the saying that studying accounting will not lead to unemployment is not an exaggeration. And 100% of accounting graduates from Sripatum University have jobs.
