Pop graduated from Sripathum University (Bangkhen), Faculty of Accountancy, 2-year transfer with a GPA of 3.25. Normally, he was not a good student. He was more good at recreation, so he decided to join almost every faculty activity. The faculty often invited Pop to do off-site activities, such as online accounting training (Thai Health Promotion Foundation), educational guidance at various colleges, etc. The advantage of these activities is that Pop dares to express himself, dares to speak, dares to do, dares to make decisions, dares to take action, and has leadership qualities more than being a follower. This made Pop more than halfway successful. So, Pop decided to take the civil service exam even though he had not graduated from Sripathum University with a Vocational Certificate in Accountancy. With his self-confidence, coupled with the experience gained from doing activities for 2 years from the Faculty of Accountancy, he did not lose any benefits. When the exam results were announced, Pop passed the Department of Employment as a Labor Officer, Bangkok Employment Office Area 9, and re-take the exam for the position of Finance and Accounting Officer, Surat Thani Provincial Employment Office, where he has been working until now.
What are the advantages of government work?
It is stable and the risk of unemployment is quite low compared to the private sector. The welfare is quite comprehensive. It can be said that it takes care of family members, including father, mother, children, etc. In the case of illness, you can use government rights to claim treatment for your loved ones and yourself. You don’t have to compete with anyone much. Everyone works, competing with time and themselves (measured by results like in the private sector).
And what are the disadvantages of government work?
Some people may say that the salary is low compared to private jobs or other careers, or that the work system may not be systematic. Currently, there is development and improvement, with KPIs as indicators, personnel development, and more selection of employees. Therefore, from Pop’s perspective, there may not be any disadvantages. Finally, Pop thinks that everyone should have a clear goal of what they want to do after graduating. For those who still don’t know whether they will be able to work after graduating, for Pop, Sripatum University truly meets everyone’s lifestyle. Just believe in yourself. Don’t reject the opportunities that come your way if you haven’t started doing them.
