Introducing ‘Tiger Jakkarin’ and his perspective on studying engineering at SPU

Let’s get to know Tiger Jakkarin Yoya.
3rd year Electrical Engineering student, Faculty of Engineering, Sripathum University
With a perspective on studying Engineering at SPU

How did you get to be in the engineering department of SPU?

Tiger: At first, I thought that I studied science and mathematics and wanted to be able to further my studies. I thought about many faculties, but in the end I chose electrical engineering because I like calculations more than memorizing books. Electrical engineering is also an interesting faculty, with jobs to support it, and it can be further developed in the future.

Engineering at Sripathum University: Is it the same or different from other places?

Tiger: From talking to friends who studied at different universities, each place has its own advantages. But the reason I chose to study here is because it has well-equipped classrooms and teachers who are all experts in their fields. And most importantly, it’s close to home.

What is studying engineering like at SPU?

Tiger: The faculty organized an activity for me to go and observe the workings inside the factory with my seniors when I was in my first year. I was also a founding member of the faculty’s SOS club. I attended a Starstem seminar outside the university with outsiders. I learned about the work of engineers from the basics through real experiences. Importantly, the professors and lecturers here are real people. They also encourage students to learn and gain real experiences outside the classroom. They have a hazing ceremony that creates closeness between friends and seniors quickly.

After coming to study engineering here What has changed?

Tiger: Since entering this faculty, I have become more responsible. When I have problems, I will not run away from them. I have also increased my patience. For me, becoming an engineer is the pride of my parents. They want to see me graduate, have a stable job, be able to support myself, help and develop society to advance. Like the engineering profession.

Leave some tips for those who are interested.
I want to study engineering.

Tiger: First of all, you have to be very responsible. Second, you have to be someone who can adapt to situations and people well. Third, you have to be patient because both the work and the study are hard. Haha. But if you don’t go it alone, here you have friends who help each other and study together, which is fun. And teachers who will support you until you reach the end.

“There is nothing we cannot do. Everything is possible.
If we want to do it, we set our minds to it and then we do it.”
