The activity “THE SPU AYUTTHAYA SDGs PROJECT” aims to promote sustainable tourism.

Sripathum University (SPU) organized the activity “THE SPU AYUTTHAYA SDGs PROJECT” aiming to promote sustainable tourism by taking participants of the Global Sustainable Development Congress 2024 to experience a ONE DAY TRIP in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, a World Heritage Site.

Start by dressing in retro style and experiencing the Thai way of life during the Ayutthaya period. Take photos to remember the memories at important historical sites such as Wat Chaiwatthanaram, which used to house the Emerald Buddha. Then travel to pay homage to Phra Mongkhon Bophit, the sacred Buddha image of Ayutthaya, to enhance your auspiciousness.

This time, Asst. Prof. Dr. Panat Asawachai, Head of the Department of Tourism and MICE Management, was the TOUR Leader who took the participants to see the beauty of the ancient sites in Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and experience the grandeur of Ayutthaya, the former glorious capital.

The event ended with a visit to the Food Waste Management of Baan Mai Rim Nam Restaurant to learn about sustainable food waste management in line with the SDGs goal 12 on sustainable production and consumption. This activity was very well received by the participants.

Sripathum University promotes sustainable tourism and this activity is a good example of raising awareness and encouraging all sectors to participate in ethical tourism, taking into account the environment and the community.
