Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali, Princess Suddhanarinatha, traveled to Sawankhalok Hospital, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Sawankhalok District, Sukhothai Province, as requested by M.R. Promchat Sawatdiwat, the daughter of Her Royal Highness Princess Wimolchat.
On this occasion, His Majesty opened a special building for inpatients, “Luang Na Saneh Siriwattano Pracharuamjai 2555 Building” and a meeting room, “Phra Worawong Thoe Phra Ong Chao Wimolchat”, which Phra Khru Phisan Siriwat (Luang Na Saneh Siriwattano), abbot of Wat Sawankaram and head of the first Dharma practice center in Sukhothai Province, initiated by Phra Ratchawimolmethi, the provincial ecclesiastical chief, Phra Phisan Phatthananodom, the district ecclesiastical chief of Sawankhalok, as advisors, Dr. Wichai Wanaratwichitra, Asst. Prof. Dr. Jariya Phukyaphon, Dr. Monticha Khruasuwan, and Dr. Thawit Thanomchit. He is an honorary advisor and the faithful donated money to build the building. It is a 3-storey reinforced concrete building with the size of 18 meters wide and 50 meters long. The first floor has 14 patient rooms, 1 nursing laboratory, the second floor has 16 patient rooms, 1 nursing laboratory, and the third floor is a conference room “Phra Worawong Thoe Phra Ong Chao Wimolchat” which can accommodate 200 meeting participants. The “Phra Ong Chao Wimolchat Fund” has supported the budget for the construction as a memorial to Her Royal Highness Princess Wimolchat, who has dedicated herself to many charitable organizations, such as the Ruamchit Nomklao Foundation for Youth under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen and the Foundation for Helping Underprivileged Students under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen.
On this occasion, His Majesty viewed the exhibition “Thai Traditional Medicine, Alternative Medicine and Herbs, Sawankhalok District Health Service Network”, such as the development of a service system to enable people to have good health with Thai traditional medicine by massage, herbal steaming and salt pot pressing, and the promotion of a network of herb growers in Sawankhalok District to bring herbs to produce herbal medicines at Sawankhalok Hospital and Subdistrict Health Promotion Hospital in Sukhothai Province, which in 2016 received the 2nd runner-up award for outstanding national prototype area in Thai traditional medicine, folk medicine and alternative medicine.
Currently, Sawankhalok Hospital is a 120-bed hospital with 299 staff members providing general and specialized medical services such as obstetrics, pediatrics, surgery, and internal medicine, as well as traditional Thai medicine and alternative herbal medicine, which has been certified as a quality process hospital and health promotion.
