The Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation launched the Youth Volunteer Project. Sripathum University, the only private university, was selected to join 2 projects, along with 6 state universities, in Kalasin Province to jointly develop the community and improve the quality of life in the economy and society.
On December 16, 2019, Assistant Professor Dr. Wirach Lertpaitoonphan, Vice President of Sripathum University, led a team of lecturers and students from Sripathum University to join the Youth Volunteer Project in Kalasin Province of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) at the Student Affairs Building, Kalasin University. Sripathum University is one of the seven educational institutions in the country that participated in the project.
For Sripatum University, students and lecturers have been brought to Kalasin Province for area-based learning for 1 semester to learn and solve problems together with the community. This is to develop the community and improve the quality of life in the economy and society. The goal is tangible and it will be a new form of learning for students. They will be able to practice analytical thinking and actual work in the area. With lecturers as coaches (Community Based Learning), students will have knowledge along with morality, leading innovation to society.
In addition, at the event, Dr. Suvit Maesincee, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), visited Kalasin Province to hold a meeting to prepare for the Youth Volunteer Project and gave advice and guidelines for working with over 800 students participating in the project from 9 universities, both public and private, including Kalasin University, Kasetsart University, Sakon Nakhon Campus, Khon Kaen University, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Nakhon Ratchasima, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Khon Kaen Campus, Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Surin Campus, Maha Sarakham University, Sisaket Rajabhat University, and Sripathum University, Bangkhen. He also discussed with university executives, heads of government agencies, and local people in Kalasin Province about the problems that occurred in the area. He also informed that the Prime Minister invited teachers and students to be guests at Government House on January 13, 2020, as they will be an important mechanism for national development.
