“Jiew” Kanokphon Yodphrom – Not good, must be diligent, then will be successful.
Kanokpon Yodphrom
Alumni of the Hotel Management Program, Class 57, graduated in 2017
Currently working at the 5-star hotel W Bangkok Hotel.
What type of person were you when you were a student?
I was a very naughty person who was 2 years behind my classmates in school. I was so reckless that I had to start deciding that I had to have a goal in life.
So I decided to come study at Sripathum University to make my dreams and goals come true.
How have things been since you graduated?
I have to preface this by saying that during my internship, I interned at Hilton Hotel Sukhumvit 24 in the hot kitchen department.
After a 4-month internship, I became a temporary employee as a Cook Helper with a 3-month temporary contract.
After 3 months, I became a full-time employee in the Commits (Assistant Cook) position.
Why did you choose this line of work?
At first, I didn’t find myself yet, so I chose to study hotel management because it seemed interesting and had a good future, so I decided to study this field.
After trying out many courses in the field, I discovered that I liked it.
I like the culinary arts…I personally like cooking, so I set a goal to pursue this career.
If you mention Sripathum University, what do you think of?
Think of a teacher who mostly teaches outside of the classroom, following the university’s concept.
“Learn with real people, real experiences.”
I think that every university’s textbook content is probably the same, but sharing real-life experiences in the hotel community is real.
The teacher has already given some introduction so that we can adjust more easily, not just study from textbooks.
“Collect hours of experience and count them to 1 without feeling embarrassed.”
When I was in my second year, I started to realize that I wanted to work in the kitchen.
We have to start gaining experience, starting before others so that we can enter this profession without feeling shy.
It’s like we already have a basic understanding. Find free time when you don’t have classes to gain experience from big hotels.
I had the opportunity to work at JW Marriott Hotel, where I got to try out various equipment, communicate with my boss, and deal with various pressures.
So that you can advance to the next level faster.
