Reporting period: 1 August 2025 – 31 July 2026
One page, one year, every commitment: SPU’s public account of how it treats the people who work on its campus, and how it opens doors to decent work for students, older people and the wider economy.

Sripatum University (SPU) reports its progress on SDG 8 openly every year, because decent work is a promise that only counts when people can check it. This report covers the 2025/26 academic year.
Under the Alpha Ready Roadmap, the Office of Human Resources, a Council-appointed Labour Protection Committee and the Cooperative Education and Career Development Centre share one aim. Everyone who works at SPU should be paid fairly, treated equally and heard. Every student should leave ready for decent, productive employment.
Decent work on campus
- Pay that keeps up with living costs: Announcement 069/2568 raised staff starting salaries from 1 July 2025, the same day Bangkok’s new minimum wage took effect, so pay stays above the legal floor. Staff benefits widen real income. They include a provident fund and a housing-loan MOU with Krungthai Bank (30 September 2025). Staff can also use on-campus physiotherapy and dental days, and a teachers’ welfare service point opened with OTEP on 24 April 2026.
- Equal treatment, written into the rules: The 2021 Policy on Equality and Equity among Personnel bars discrimination by origin, religion, gender, age, disability or status in hiring, pay and promotion. On 31 July 2026 the University Council reaffirmed it in the Code of Ethics Regulation 2026. The regulation also created an Ethics Protection Committee, with academic and support staff representatives, to hear complaints.
- No forced or child labour: Every hire needs identity and age checks, a panel interview and a written contract with set hours, paid leave and social security. The Sustainable Procurement Policy (2023) asks suppliers to meet the same fair, ethical standards.
- Equal pay for work of equal value: One merit rulebook (Announcement 005/2568) governs raises for all staff. Under the SPU Pay Equity Statement, HR tracks salaries and raises by gender and job level every year. Any unexplained gap goes to executives for correction.
- A voice and a right to appeal: The Labour Protection Committee, which includes external experts, safeguards rights at work and hears dismissal appeals. Staff may also appeal penalties to the University Council under the Staff Investigation Regulation, which was reaffirmed in 2022. Staff spoke up at the Personnel Conference (8 August 2025), the Alpha Ready Forum (June 2026), the annual staff survey and the President’s Direct Line.
- Fair terms for contractors: Contractors and outsourced canteen vendors work under university safety, hygiene and health-check rules. External workers can use SPU’s complaints system.
- An inclusive workplace: SPU won an Excellent-level award for promoting the employment of older persons on National Older Persons Day (8 April 2026). HR also ran vocational training for persons with disabilities with the Rotary Club and a social enterprise.
Decent work and growth beyond campus
- Learning through real work: Through Cooperative and Work-Integrated Education (CWIE), students spend mandatory placements with employers before they graduate, starting with a university-wide orientation (15 August 2025). The higher education ministry named SPU an Outstanding CWIE Institution at CWIE Day 2026 (6 June 2026). SPU’s Vice President was also elected to the Executive Council of the World Association for Cooperative Education (WACE).
- Paid placements with industry: With SCB Protect, the “Internverse” programme gives students paid placements and a public showcase of their work (22 April 2026). Further CWIE partnerships run with NTT DATA, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and Pattaya Aviation.
- Matching students with employers: Two SPU CWIE Job Matching Days (19 September 2025 and February 2026) brought dozens of leading employers to campus for interviews, career talks and placement offers.
- Safe routes to work abroad: SPU met the Ministry of Labour’s Permanent Secretary and the heads of the Departments of Employment and Skill Development (March 2026). Together they explored safe overseas placements in Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong and Macao. With Thailand’s labour office in Hong Kong, students joined a hospitality placement in Macao after mock interviews on campus.
- Livelihoods for older people: With TSRI support, the Faculty of Business Administration taught older residents of the Wat Bot community to use innovation and AI to earn new income (closing exhibition 23 May 2026).
Each year SPU also reports its workforce, expenditure, work-placement and secure-contract data to Times Higher Education, so its role as an employer and economic driver can be compared. Next year SPU aims to:
- keep reviewing pay against living costs and publish the annual gender pay findings
- state its recognition of staff associations more clearly in public HR communications
- widen safe, paid international CWIE placements with the Ministry of Labour
Fair pay, a real voice, a first job worth having.
At Sripatum University, reporting on SDG 8 is a promise kept in public. Each year we show how we pay and protect the people who work here, and how we prepare students and communities for decent, productive work.
