Reporting period: 1 August 2025 – 31 July 2026
One page, one year, every commitment: SPU’s public account of how it opened doors for women, protected every gender identity and made campus life fairer for students, staff and families.

Sripatum University (SPU) reports its progress on SDG 5 openly every year, because gender equality only moves forward when the work can be seen and checked. This report covers the 2025/26 academic year (1 August 2025 – 31 July 2026). Under the Alpha Ready Roadmap, fairness and inclusion are part of how SPU plans, teaches and manages people.
The university’s foundation is two equality policies issued on 8 November 2021, one for students (Announcement No. 094/2564) and one for staff. Both draw on Thailand’s Gender Equality Act and prohibit unfair discrimination on grounds of sex, gender identity or personal status in:
- admission
- recruitment
- pay
- training
- promotion
- support to graduation
On 31 July 2026, after approval at University Council meeting 4/2569, SPU issued the Code of Ethics Regulation B.E. 2569. It binds council members, executives, staff and students to equality, and it sets up an Ethics Protection Committee that examines complaints and reports to the Council every year.
Access, data and support for women students.
- Gender-disaggregated data: Applications, entry and graduation are tracked by gender through the Sripatum Campus Management System and Business Intelligence dashboards. Results are reviewed at University Executive Meetings and passed to deans and advisors for early follow-up through e-Advisor.
- Women’s Mentoring Scheme: Run by the Wellness Counseling Center, it pairs female students with counsellors, nurses and peer mentors from the Love Your Life Club.
- Health and well-being: At FRESHY DAY 2569 (July 2026), new students received free, stigma-free health counselling with the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand. Well-being events included Soul Connect Fest with ThaiHealth (December 2025) and Power to Live on World Suicide Prevention Day (September 2025).
- Scholarships: Full-tuition awards for students from the Southern Border Provinces and from the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation, plus faculty talent awards in engineering and IT, help women from low-income or remote families enter university.
- Study support: Foundation English and maths sessions at SPU Chonburi, senior-led peer workshops and flexible tuition instalments help every woman complete her degree.
Opening STEM and leadership to women and girls.
- SPU Engineering Camp 2026 (March 2026): Girls and boys from schools nationwide used surveying instruments, built models and worked in engineering labs.
- RedLine simulation game (August 2025): Rail Systems Engineering took the game to Suksapan Ed-Fest 2025 to promote women’s roles in engineering.
- New Generation Railway Camp 2026: Co-run with the State Railway of Thailand, the SRT Red Line and national railway engineering bodies.
- AI training for women entrepreneurs (September 2025): Run with the Department of Women’s Affairs and Family Development, the Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Associations of Thailand and the ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Network, with SPU students as coaches.
- Women in aviation (March 2026): SPU aviation students joined the ICAO Asia-Pacific International Women’s Day dialogue.
- Brand Ambassadors: Women served as Brand Ambassadors across faculties, including Engineering, on a stage open to every gender identity.
Protection, family and fair workplaces.
- Transgender students: They may use records and ID cards without gendered titles, and wear the uniform and graduation attire that match their gender identity.
- Reporting discrimination: People who report discrimination are protected under the 2009 Regulation on Investigation of Personnel and Announcement No. 078/2565. They can raise concerns anonymously through SPU Care or the Rector’s direct line.
- Maternity: Female staff receive paid maternity leave and protected duties during pregnancy, overseen by the Work Protection Committee under Order No. 486/2565. Entitlements follow national labour law, which was strengthened in December 2025.
- Fathers: Male staff may take leave to care for their children, and hybrid-work guidelines give parents flexibility.
- Childcare: A free family-friendly room with a play corner and lactation area serves both student-mothers and staff.
- Student campaigns: Students lead campaigns against gender-based violence and child sexual abuse. These include “How to L.O.V.E” with the Women and Men Progressive Movement Foundation, and an award-winning short-video campaign from SPU Chonburi.
Together, these strands turn equality from a statement into daily practice. Because each commitment sits in a council-level regulation, a named office and a routine data review, the work repeats every year rather than depending on a single project. Next year, SPU aims to:
- widen women’s pathways into engineering, AI and aviation
- extend mentoring to more first-year students
- keep refining gender-disaggregated tracking so that any gap is closed early
Every woman, and every person of every identity, should find an equal place at Sripatum University.
At Sripatum University, reporting on SDG 5 is a promise kept in public. Each year we show how we widened opportunity for women and girls, protected every identity, what changed, and where we will go further, so that gender equality is lived on campus and carried into the communities we serve.
