When a decision affects someone’s pay or job, they deserve an independent second look. At Sripatum University, that right is written into university regulation.

Fairness at work goes beyond good intentions. People need a route they can use when a decision goes against them. Sripatum University (SPU) builds this route into its governance through the SPU Regulation on Investigation of Personnel B.E. 2552 (2009), approved by the University Council under the Private Higher Education Institution Act and the Ministerial Regulation on work protection for private-university personnel. Chapter 3 of the regulation gives every academic and support staff member the right to appeal in writing within 30 days. Decisions that affect pay, such as withholding the annual merit increase, are reviewed by the University Council. Dismissal without compensation is reviewed by the University Labour Protection Committee, a body that includes external experts.
The process is designed to protect due process at every step. Staff under investigation are told their rights. They may submit evidence, bring an adviser, and object to any committee member who may be biased. When they appeal, they may inspect the investigation report and the committee’s decision. In 2022, a review committee led by the Assistant to the President for Human Resources re-examined the regulation, and SPU reaffirmed it through Announcement 078/2565. Beyond formal appeals, staff can raise concerns through the President’s Direct Line, and the Human Resources Office runs an annual staff survey that asks staff to rate pay accuracy and the fairness of salary and promotion decisions. HR uses the survey results to improve its practices.
Fairness at work goes beyond good intentions. People need a route they can use when a decision goes against them.
These channels support SPU’s Alpha Ready transformation, which treats trust and good governance as the basis for a dynamic, high-performing university. At the 2025 annual Staff Meeting, “Navigating Through Transformation: Together to Sustainability,” the University again stressed that people grow best in a workplace where they feel heard. SPU will keep making these processes easier to find and use, and will make sure appraisal and pay decisions stay open to review.
At SPU, employee rights include the right to be heard and to receive a fair, independent review. This is part of the University’s commitment to decent work and labour rights for everyone who builds the University’s future.
