SPUIC Students Reimagine Loy Kratong with a Sustainable Vision

In an inspiring fusion of Thai heritage and environmental consciousness, Sripatum University International College (SPUIC) hosted the “Loy Kratong Cultural Night: Light & Harmony” on November 5, 2025.

More than just a cultural gathering, the event served as a platform for global citizenship, responsible celebration, and the practical promotion of sustainable development concepts.

Held at SPUIC Student Lounge, the event invited over 50 Thai and international students to participate in crafting eco-friendly “kratongs.” Emphasizing the use of natural, biodegradable materials, the designs were not only symbolic but also reflected themes of gratitude, renewal, and ecological responsibility. Students also collaborated to raise awareness about the water pollution challenges associated with traditional Loy Kratong practices.

Through this cross-cultural teamwork and shared learning on sustainability, the event reinforced SPUIC’s identity as an international, innovative, and impact-driven institution. Beyond the festivities, students left with a deeper insight into how traditional culture and sustainability can unite powerfully in the modern world.
