SPU Expands Disposable Policy to Campus-wide Services
Sripatum University takes sustainability beyond the classroom by extending its waste management policy into service operations, strengthening its alignment with global SDGs.
Sripatum University (SPU) has elevated its environmental stewardship through the expansion of its Disposable Policy — extending sustainable waste and resource management across services throughout the campus. Led by the Office of Buildings and Facilities, the initiative connects directly to SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, especially 12.2.7 — Policy on disposable items extended to outsourced and internal services. It ensures that not only university departments, but all service providers within campus adhere to sustainable practices.
A key component of this expansion is SPU’s Waste Bank program, a participatory waste separation initiative involving both students and staff. It fosters responsible consumption habits, reduces landfill dependency, and strengthens the university’s recycling system. This complements SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by promoting waste consciousness in urban operations.
Waste disposal is managed in compliance with Bangkok’s Chatuchak District sanitation framework. Recyclable and reusable materials are redirected to proper channels, while non-reusable waste is disposed of safely — supporting SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by ensuring hygienic standards.
The comprehensive policy also advances SDG 4: Quality Education through awareness-building campaigns and hands-on waste-sorting practices that educate the university community. By integrating sustainable procurement, energy and water efficiency, and safe waste management under one service umbrella, the university demonstrates good governance aligned with SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.
SPU’s service-linked sustainability strategy illustrates how deep institutional change can occur when policy moves into operations. The expansion of its Disposable Policy sets a powerful precedent for other universities seeking to scale sustainability impact beyond core academics.

มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุม (SPU) ขยายขอบเขตนโยบาย “Disposable Policy” ครอบคลุมการบริหารจัดการทรัพยากรและขยะในทุกหน่วยบริการทั่วทั้งมหาวิทยาลัย ภายใต้การกำกับดูแลของสำนักงานอาคารสถานที่ โดยสอดคล้องอย่างตรงจุดกับ SDG 12: การบริโภคและการผลิตที่ยั่งยืน โดยเฉพาะเป้าหมายย่อย 12.2.7 ที่เน้นการขยายนโยบายการลดวัสดุใช้แล้วทิ้งไปยังหน่วยงานภายนอกและบริการภายในของมหาวิทยาลัย
หนึ่งในโครงการหลัก คือ “ธนาคารขยะ” ที่เปิดโอกาสให้นักศึกษาและบุคลากรมีส่วนร่วมในการคัดแยกขยะตั้งแต่ต้นทาง ช่วยลดปริมาณขยะฝังกลบและส่งเสริมการรีไซเคิล โดยส่งเสริมพฤติกรรมการบริโภคอย่างมีความรับผิดชอบ ซึ่งเชื่อมโยงกับ SDG 11: เมืองและชุมชนที่ยั่งยืน
ระบบจัดการขยะยังดำเนินการสอดคล้องกับข้อกำหนดของสำนักงานเขตจตุจักร โดยแยกขยะเพื่อการรีไซเคิลหรือนำกลับมาใช้ใหม่ และกำจัดขยะที่ไม่สามารถใช้ซ้ำได้อย่างถูกสุขลักษณะ ช่วยลดความเสี่ยงด้านสุขภาพ ตามแนวทางของ SDG 3: สุขภาพและความเป็นอยู่ที่ดี
นอกจากนี้ นโยบายนี้ยังส่งเสริม SDG 4: การศึกษาที่มีคุณภาพ ผ่านกิจกรรมสร้างความรู้ ความเข้าใจในการจัดการขยะและการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากร มหาวิทยาลัยยังรวมแนวคิดด้านการจัดซื้อจัดจ้าง การประหยัดพลังงานและน้ำ ตลอดจนการควบคุมความปลอดภัยด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมภายใต้กรอบเดียวกัน สะท้อนถึงการบริหารจัดการที่ดีตาม SDG 16: สันติภาพ ยุติธรรม และสถาบันที่เข้มแข็ง
การขยายผลนโยบายนี้แสดงให้เห็นว่า การเปลี่ยนแปลงเชิงนโยบายสามารถขับเคลื่อนสู่การปฏิบัติจริงได้อย่างเป็นระบบ และเป็นต้นแบบสำหรับมหาวิทยาลัยอื่นๆ ที่ต้องการสร้างผลกระทบด้านความยั่งยืนในระดับบริการและการดำเนินงาน
