SPU Sets National Example with Campus Recycling Success
Sripatum University’s strategic waste sorting and recycling system helps maximize resource recovery, reduce landfill waste, and support SDG-aligned environmental goals.
Sripatum University (SPU) continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental sustainability with its outstanding waste recycling initiative. With over 35% of total waste now being recycled on campus, the program directly aligns with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production — especially sub-goal 12.3, which emphasizes increasing the share of waste recycled.
Under the supervision of the Office of Buildings and Facilities, SPU classifies waste into four main types: recyclable, organic, hazardous, and general waste. Recyclables — including paper, plastic bottles, and glass — are collected and sold, generating income for the university while reducing waste volume. This approach supports SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by decreasing the burden on municipal landfill systems and promoting cleaner, safer public spaces.
Recycling not only diverts waste but also protects public health, which supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by reducing disease vectors linked to improper waste management. Furthermore, SPU’s collaboration with Chatuchak District Office ensures that waste is collected, processed, and disposed of responsibly, reinforcing institutional trust and good governance — aligned with SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
The university also embeds sustainability education across its activities, encouraging students and staff to engage in responsible consumption and participate in environmental campaigns. This hands-on involvement supports SDG 4: Quality Education and drives a culture of sustainability beyond the classroom.
With effective monitoring and continual improvements planned, SPU proves that a well-structured recycling system can serve as a model of success for other institutions — where every sorted bottle or piece of paper becomes part of a bigger movement toward a circular, sustainable future.

มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุม (SPU) ยังคงแสดงบทบาทผู้นำด้านสิ่งแวดล้อม ด้วยการดำเนินโครงการรีไซเคิลขยะภายในมหาวิทยาลัยอย่างต่อเนื่อง และมีประสิทธิภาพ โดยปัจจุบันสามารถรีไซเคิลขยะได้มากกว่า 35% ของปริมาณขยะทั้งหมด ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับ SDG 12: การบริโภคและการผลิตอย่างยั่งยืน โดยเฉพาะเป้าหมายย่อย 12.3 ที่ส่งเสริมการเพิ่มสัดส่วนของขยะที่ถูกรีไซเคิล
โครงการนี้อยู่ภายใต้การดูแลของสำนักงานอาคารสถานที่ โดยมีการแยกขยะออกเป็น 4 ประเภทหลัก ได้แก่ ขยะรีไซเคิล ขยะอินทรีย์ ขยะอันตราย และขยะทั่วไป โดยเฉพาะขยะรีไซเคิล เช่น กระดาษ ขวดพลาสติก และแก้ว จะถูกนำไปขายต่อให้เกิดรายได้กลับมา พร้อมกับลดปริมาณขยะที่ต้องนำไปฝังกลบ ซึ่งช่วยลดภาระของระบบจัดการขยะในเมือง และสร้างสิ่งแวดล้อมที่สะอาด ปลอดภัย สอดคล้องกับ SDG 11: เมืองและชุมชนที่ยั่งยืน
การรีไซเคิลยังช่วยลดความเสี่ยงด้านสุขภาพจากการสะสมของขยะที่อาจก่อให้เกิดโรค สนับสนุน SDG 3: สุขภาพและความเป็นอยู่ที่ดี ทั้งนี้ SPU ยังทำงานร่วมกับสำนักงานเขตจตุจักรในการเก็บและกำจัดขยะอย่างถูกสุขลักษณะ เสริมสร้างความเชื่อมั่นในระบบการบริหารงานของมหาวิทยาลัย ตามแนวทาง SDG 16: สันติภาพ ยุติธรรม และสถาบันที่เข้มแข็ง
