From a fully virtual research conference to campus-wide Hybrid Learning, Sripatum University shows that fewer journeys and good teaching can go together.
Every trip to a city-centre campus costs time, money and carbon. Sripatum University (SPU) treats online and hybrid work as an everyday way of operating. Office of Human Resources guidelines let academic and support staff work online or in hybrid mode where their duties allow, and internal meetings regularly run on Google Meet and Zoom. On 17 March 2026, the Deputy Rector, Asst. Prof. Dr. Wirat Lertpaithoonpan, briefed deans and faculty representatives from every faculty on the university’s hybrid approach. He did this through a Google Meet session rather than an in-person gathering.
Two days later, a university announcement under national energy-saving measures moved every theory course to Hybrid Learning. Students could choose to attend on-site or online, and lecturers streamed each class live. The Office of Online Education (OOE) ran a workshop from 17 to 20 March 2026 to prepare lecturers for hybrid teaching with Google Meet. It covered setup, class management, classroom devices and live troubleshooting. Teaching and learning rest on long-running platforms: the d-Learning LMS for every course and the SPU MOOC platform for open, fully online courses. These were recognised nationally when SPU won the Thai MOOC award for effective use.
Research events follow the same model. SPUCON2025, SPU’s 20th national and 10th international conference held on 30 September 2025, was a fully virtual conference. Papers were presented on Zoom and keynotes were streamed on Facebook Live, so presenters across Thailand and abroad took part without travelling.
A meeting that moves online or a lecture streamed to students at home is a small, practical step toward a cleaner, less congested city.
Less travel gives staff and students more time and lowers costs and emissions. It also eases pressure on Bangkok’s roads and keeps teaching running when energy or air-quality conditions change. This reflects SPU’s Alpha Ready Roadmap and its goal of becoming a Smart & Agile University. The next step is to extend hybrid-ready classrooms and publish clearer online-work guidance for staff.
For SPU, a meeting that moves online or a lecture streamed to students at home is a small, practical step toward a cleaner, less congested city. The university will keep building that habit into how it teaches and works.

อีกสองวันต่อมา มหาวิทยาลัยออกประกาศตามมาตรการประหยัดพลังงานของประเทศ ให้รายวิชาทฤษฎีปรับเป็น Hybrid Learning ตั้งแต่ 19 มีนาคม 2569 นักศึกษาเลือกเรียน On-site หรือ Online ได้ และอาจารย์ถ่ายทอดการสอนออนไลน์ทุกครั้ง ช่วงวันที่ 17–20 มีนาคม 2569 สำนักการจัดการศึกษาออนไลน์ (OOE) จัดเวิร์กชอปการใช้ Google Meet เพื่อการสอนแบบ Hybrid ให้อาจารย์ ครอบคลุมการตั้งค่า การบริหารชั้นเรียน การเชื่อมต่ออุปกรณ์ และการแก้ปัญหาระหว่างสอนจริง
การเรียนการสอนมีระบบ d-Learning รองรับทุกรายวิชา และมีแพลตฟอร์ม SPU MOOC สำหรับหลักสูตรออนไลน์เต็มรูปแบบ มหาวิทยาลัยยังได้รับรางวัลหน่วยงานที่ใช้ Thai MOOC อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพสูงสุดระดับประเทศ งานวิจัยก็ใช้แนวทางเดียวกัน การประชุมวิชาการระดับชาติครั้งที่ 20 และนานาชาติครั้งที่ 10 (SPUCON2025) เมื่อ 30 กันยายน 2568 จัดเป็น Virtual Conference ทั้งหมด นำเสนอบทความผ่าน Zoom และถ่ายทอดปาฐกถาทาง Facebook Live นักวิจัยทั่วประเทศและต่างประเทศจึงเข้าร่วมได้โดยไม่ต้องเดินทาง
ทุกการประชุมที่ย้ายมาออนไลน์ และทุกคาบเรียนที่ถ่ายทอดถึงนักศึกษาที่บ้าน คือก้าวเล็กๆ ที่จับต้องได้สู่เมืองที่สะอาดและไม่แออัด
การลดการเดินทางช่วยให้บุคลากรและนักศึกษาประหยัดเวลาและค่าใช้จ่าย ลดการปล่อยคาร์บอนและภาระของถนนในกรุงเทพฯ และทำให้การเรียนการสอนดำเนินต่อได้เมื่อสถานการณ์พลังงานหรือคุณภาพอากาศเปลี่ยนไป แนวทางนี้สอดคล้องกับ Alpha Ready Roadmap และเป้าหมาย Smart & Agile University ก้าวต่อไปคือขยายห้องเรียนที่รองรับ Hybrid และเผยแพร่แนวทางการทำงานออนไลน์ของบุคลากรให้ชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น
