Preferential housing welfare loans with Krungthai Bank and subsidised staff housing in Chonburi lower the cost of a stable home for the people behind SPU.
A stable, affordable home helps people do their best work. Sripatum University (SPU) treats access to housing as part of staff welfare rather than a personal problem each employee must solve alone. It supports staff in two ways: helping them buy or improve a home on better terms, and offering homes directly where the local housing market is hard to enter.
On 30 September 2025, SPU and Krungthai Bank signed a memorandum of understanding on housing welfare loans for SPU personnel. Dr. Kriangkrai Pookayaporn, Assistant President, signed for SPU, and the Lat Phrao zone manager signed for the bank. The loans cover buying a house, townhouse or condominium, building on one’s own land, refinancing from another lender, and renovating a home, all on preferential terms. SPU’s Office of Human Resources then promoted the scheme to all staff through its HR Care channel. It explained that the scheme lowers interest costs and improves cash flow, and that the bank carries the credit risk. At the Chonburi campus, SPU also provides condominium units and houses in nearby communities that eligible staff may occupy at subsidised or no cost, which is especially valuable for staff who relocate to the Eastern Economic Corridor.
A stable, affordable home helps people do their best work.
The result is lower housing costs than staff would face on the open market. It also gives younger staff and those with modest incomes a fairer path to homeownership, and shortens commutes for staff living near campus. This housing welfare approach supports sustainable, inclusive communities and SPU’s Alpha Ready strategy of caring for and keeping talented people. Next, SPU plans to keep reviewing staff housing needs and extend partnerships so that more employees can find a secure home.
At SPU, affordable housing is part of how the university looks after the people who make education possible, helping them build stable lives close to the communities they serve.
