Every Drop Matters: How SPU Students Turn Water Conservation into a Campus Habit

From a Goal 6 campaign on the Giving Day stage to free refill stations and smart taps, Sripatum University makes saving water something everyone on campus understands and practises.

Clean water is easy to take for granted when it flows from every tap. That is why Sripatum University (SPU) works to keep its value visible to students and staff. Two university policies set the direction for water efficiency and water conservation across campus, in line with SPU’s Alpha Ready Roadmap. The Energy and Environmental Conservation Policy (Announcement 100/2565) commits SPU to reducing the environmental impact of its operations, and the Sustainable Resource Procurement and Waste Management Policy (2023) asks students and staff to use resources sustainably and cut waste.Visitors explore the Faculty of Engineering exhibition booths at SPU Giving Day 2025

Student activities bring that commitment to life. On 30–31 October 2025, Lan Hookwang hosted the Club Fair “MOONLIGHT ORDER”, run by the Student Development and Community Relations Center and the SPU Student Union, together with SPU Giving Day. On the Giving Day stage “Sustainable Development Goals: SDGs”, each faculty presented a campaign for one global goal to a large crowd of students and staff. The School of Engineering championed Goal 6 Clean Water and Sanitation, and its exhibition, “BIM Family for Water Treatment System”, showed visitors how precisely designed pipe joints cut water loss. Talks on volunteering for sustainability and sustainable resource management encouraged new students to value every resource, water included. At Freshy Day on 9 July 2026, the ECOLIFE in U launch invited new students to record everyday eco-friendly habits through a digital platform.

At SPU, saving water is something students champion and everyone shares.

Awareness is matched by daily practice. Free filtered drinking-water stations in corridors and staff pantries invite everyone to refill their own bottles instead of buying bottled water. The Office of Buildings and Facilities fits sensor and self-closing taps, controls water pressure and checks pipes for leaks, so the water-wise choice is also the easiest one. Together, campaigns and campus facilities help students, staff and visitors carry water-saving habits from campus into everyday life. SPU plans to keep building on these student-led initiatives.

At SPU, saving water is something students champion and everyone shares: understand its value, refill, turn off the tap and make every drop count.
