Reporting period: 1 August 2025 – 31 July 2026
One page, one year, every SDG 10 measure: SPU’s public account of how it widens access, protects people from discrimination and makes campus and community life work for everyone.

Sripatum University (SPU) reports its progress on SDG 10 openly every year. Equal opportunity only counts when students, staff and the public can see what changed. This report covers the 2025/26 academic year. It follows the areas Times Higher Education measures under SDG 10: research on inequality, access for learners from disadvantaged backgrounds, international students from developing countries, people with disabilities, and measures against discrimination.
Under the Alpha Ready Roadmap, SPU treats inclusion as a condition of quality, not an add-on. The Scholarship Office, the Well-being and Counseling Center, the Office of International Relations, the Human Resources Office, the Building and Facilities Office and every faculty share one aim. No one should be held back by income, origin, age, disability or identity.
Fair rules that protect everyone
- Non-discriminatory admissions and employment: SPU’s student equality policy (Announcement 094/2564) requires that admission criteria never exclude anyone for reasons of origin, race, ethnicity, language, religion, sex, age, disability, health or personal status. A parallel policy for staff applies the same principle to recruitment, pay review, training and promotion, and commits SPU to helping disadvantaged people.
- Reaffirmed at the highest level: The University Council approved a new Code of Ethics Regulation on 14 July 2026, announced on 31 July 2026. It binds Council members, executives, staff and students to respect equality. It also creates an Ethics Protection Committee that examines complaints and reports to the Council every year. A separate rule protects anyone who reports misconduct.
- Respect for gender identity: Student records and ID cards can omit gendered titles. Students may dress, and graduate, according to their gender identity.
Opening access for learners who start with less
- Keeping low-income students on track: On 4–5 September 2025, SPU hosted Thailand’s Student Loan Fund (SLF) to meet borrowers, review their progress and streamline loan approvals. Students received guidance on financial planning.
- Talent over background: SPU awarded a full four-year scholarship to young winners of the 2025 Thailand A-Math Championship (September 2025), turning a competition result into a university place.
- A softer landing in year one: Digital Media student leaders ran a peer-to-peer workshop before term to help new students from every background settle in. SPU Chonburi offered online English and mathematics foundation sessions for first-year students (22 July 2026) to close gaps in prior learning.
International students from developing countries
- Welcome and support from day one: The Office of International Relations ran International Student Orientation (September 2025). It covered academic systems, visas, insurance, internships and daily life in Thailand, supported by airport pick-up, housing help and one-to-one advice.
- Scholarships and shared learning: The Global Intelligence Scholarship supports qualified international applicants. At the 5th International Friendship Day (23–24 July 2026), SPU students and international participants co-presented on breaking stereotypes, student mobility and cross-cultural volunteering.
Disability inclusion on campus and beyond
- A named home for inclusion: The Well-being and Counseling Center oversees support for students with disabilities. It is led by a counsellor trained in disability education management in higher education.
- Barrier-free buildings: Every academic building has wheelchair-accessible toilets. The campus has ramps, accessible paths, designated parking and elevators. A campus-wide elevator modernisation, under way since June 2025, is making vertical access safer and more reliable for wheelchair users, older people and visitors.
- Funding that removes cost barriers: The Scholarship Office administers education grants for undergraduates with disabilities.
- From training to livelihoods: The Human Resources Office ran free vocational training for people with disabilities. This included a Japanese clay-flower course with the Rotary Club (September 2025) and a 2026 quality-of-life and employment pathway with allowances.
- Inclusive sport: The Faculty of Entrepreneurship joined social enterprise Allympic for “Sports for Everyone” at Benchakitti Park (20 September 2025), where people with and without disabilities played side by side. SPU student volunteers then helped run ALLYMPIC GAMES BANGKOK 2026 (July 2026).
Reducing inequality across generations
- Digital skills for older adults: In Bang Bua, SPU trained community members aged 50–70 to use AI and create digital content (August 2025). This opens new routes to income and connection.
- Valuing older workers: On National Older Persons Day (8 April 2026), SPU received an “Excellent” award as an organisation that promotes employment and income for older persons.
- Research on inclusion: A 2026 Fundamental Fund grant supports SPU research on an intergenerational model that improves older adults’ quality of life through family and community participation in Khlong Sam Wa, Bangkok.
Each year SPU reports its student, staff and disability data to Times Higher Education, so its progress on equality can be compared. Next year SPU aims to:
- track admission and progression for under-represented groups more systematically, so gaps can be closed early
- widen scholarships and mentoring for students with disabilities and international students
- add explicit guidance on preventing harassment to its ethics framework
Every learner belongs: opportunity without barriers.
At Sripatum University, reporting on SDG 10 is a promise kept in public. Each year we show how our policies, people and partners remove the barriers of income, origin, age and disability, so that every learner and every colleague can take part on equal terms.
