Student volunteers, shared research and new learning tools: SPU is working with Rotary, foundations and associations to turn campus knowledge into community impact.

Sustainable development is too large for any single institution. Sripatum University (SPU) works with NGOs as partners. They bring knowledge of the community, and the university brings students, research and teaching. In the 2025–2026 academic year, this work ran through student volunteering, research and educational resources, in line with the Alpha Ready Roadmap’s aim of learning through real experience.
Student volunteering. On 1 March 2026, the Rotaract Club of SPU helped run “Peace Forum D3350: Voice of Youth” with Rotary District 3350, with essay, speech and poster contests on world peace. On 16 May 2026, Rotaract members and the SPUCATH student club joined Rotary Thailand’s “Traffic Vaccine” workshop and trained to pass road-safety knowledge on to others. In June 2026, students volunteered at the university’s blood drive with the Thai Red Cross Society.
Research. In February 2026, the Faculty of Engineering shared its research on turning mussel-shell waste into building blocks with a civil-society and community coalition in Samut Songkhram. In March 2026, SPU hosted the Social Innovation Foundation to discuss a “Social Impact Pipeline” that links academic projects with community needs.
Educational resources. In June 2026, SPU signed an MoU with the Board Game for Education Association to co-develop game-based learning tools. In July 2026, the Rainbow Sky Association of Thailand brought free, stigma-free sexual-health counselling to new students. In December 2025, the Faculty of Communication Arts and the E-Jan Page Foundation held a charity sports event at SPU, with proceeds going towards a school for children with special needs.
At SPU, working with civil society is how sustainable development becomes everyday practice, built together, project by project.
These partnerships widen access to health, safety, environmental and learning resources, and give students a direct part in social change. SPU plans to grow them into longer-term joint research and co-created learning materials.
