With a clear target year, stronger climate governance and students taking the lead on campus, Sripatum University is turning its climate commitment into a measurable path to a low-carbon future.
Sripatum University (SPU) has committed to reach carbon neutrality by 2045, a target that covers both direct emissions (Scope 1) and emissions from purchased electricity (Scope 2) under the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. The commitment builds on SPU’s Energy and Environment Conservation Policy, revised in 2022, which directs the university to favour renewable and clean energy, design new and renovated buildings for energy efficiency, phase down fossil-fuel use and adopt low-carbon construction materials. Setting the goal five years ahead of Thailand’s national 2050 carbon-neutrality target signals that SPU intends to lead rather than follow.
The target is backed by action across the campus community. The Office of Buildings and Facilities runs rooftop solar, LED lighting, efficient air-conditioning and expanded green space, and in 2026 the university’s energy committee was restructured to place climate action and greenhouse gas management at the centre of its work. Students are part of the journey: at Freshy Day 2026, new students joined ECOLIFE in U, logging everyday low-carbon habits that feed into the university’s environmental data; BIM Club students estimated the CO2-equivalent emissions of a building and proposed ways toward Net Zero construction at the 4th BIM Contest co-hosted with the Engineering Institute of Thailand; and SPU teams brought climate-related innovations, including an earthquake early-warning system, to the 10th SUN Thailand and ASCN sustainability stage.

The 2045 target reflects SPU’s Alpha Ready Roadmap and its mission to align institutional practice with the Sustainable Development Goals. Next steps include a verified Scope 1 and 2 baseline, interim milestones, and the gradual addition of Scope 3 sources such as travel and procurement.
A target year is only as strong as the people behind it. By pairing a 2045 commitment with clear governance, transparent reporting and students who carry climate action into their learning, Sripatum University is building a carbon-neutral future its community can see, measure and help deliver.

เป้าหมายนี้ต่อยอดจากนโยบายการอนุรักษ์พลังงานและสิ่งแวดล้อม ฉบับแก้ไข พ.ศ. 2565 ที่กำหนดให้มหาวิทยาลัยเลือกใช้พลังงานหมุนเวียนและพลังงานสะอาด ออกแบบอาคารใหม่และอาคารปรับปรุงให้ประหยัดพลังงาน ลดการใช้เชื้อเพลิงฟอสซิล และนำวัสดุคาร์บอนต่ำมาใช้ในงานก่อสร้าง การตั้งเป้าเร็วกว่าเป้าหมายความเป็นกลางทางคาร์บอนของประเทศไทยในปี 2050 สะท้อนความตั้งใจของ SPU ที่จะเป็นผู้นำ ไม่ใช่ผู้ตาม
สำนักงานอาคารสถานที่ขับเคลื่อนโซลาร์รูฟ ไฟ LED ระบบปรับอากาศประสิทธิภาพสูง และพื้นที่สีเขียวอย่างต่อเนื่อง และในปี 2026 คณะกรรมการด้านพลังงานของมหาวิทยาลัยได้ปรับโครงสร้างใหม่ให้การรับมือการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศและการจัดการก๊าซเรือนกระจกเป็นหัวใจของการทำงาน
นักศึกษาเป็นส่วนสำคัญของเส้นทางนี้ ในงาน Freshy Day 2026 นักศึกษาใหม่ร่วมโครงการ ECOLIFE in U บันทึกพฤติกรรมลดคาร์บอนในชีวิตประจำวันเพื่อนำไปประกอบข้อมูลด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมของมหาวิทยาลัย นักศึกษาชมรม BIM ร่วมประเมินปริมาณการปล่อยคาร์บอนเทียบเท่าของอาคารและเสนอแนวทางสู่การก่อสร้างแบบ Net Zero ในเวที BIM Contest ครั้งที่ 4 ที่จัดร่วมกับวิศวกรรมสถานแห่งประเทศไทยฯ และทีมนักศึกษา SPU ยังนำนวัตกรรมด้านภูมิอากาศและภัยพิบัติ เช่น ระบบเตือนภัยแผ่นดินไหว ขึ้นเวที SUN Thailand และ ASCN ครั้งที่ 10

เป้าหมายปี 2045 สอดคล้องกับแผน Alpha Ready Roadmap และพันธกิจด้านการขับเคลื่อน SDGs ของมหาวิทยาลัย ก้าวต่อไปคือการจัดทำฐานข้อมูลการปล่อย Scope 1 และ 2 ที่ทวนสอบได้ การกำหนดเป้าหมายระยะกลาง และการขยายขอบเขตสู่ Scope 3 เช่น การเดินทางและการจัดซื้อ
ปีเป้าหมายจะมีพลังก็ต่อเมื่อมีผู้คนร่วมขับเคลื่อน ด้วยการผสานเป้าหมายปี 2045 เข้ากับธรรมาภิบาลที่ชัดเจน การรายงานที่โปร่งใส และนักศึกษาที่นำการลดคาร์บอนเข้าสู่การเรียนรู้ ศรีปทุมกำลังสร้างอนาคตคาร์บอนเป็นกลางที่ทุกคนเห็นได้ วัดได้ และร่วมสร้างได้
