Lawns, shaded walkways and open-air plazas across SPU campuses welcome neighbours, schools, families and visitors all year round at no cost.
In crowded cities where accessible public space is scarce, Sripatum University (SPU) treats its campuses as shared urban parks rather than closed academic compounds. Lawns, landscaped courtyards, the fountain pond, outdoor seating, open-air activity plazas such as Lan Hookwang and an outdoor futsal court are open throughout the year to local residents, schools, families and visitors free of charge, under simple campus rules. Green space and recreation are within easy reach for the communities around each campus.
The Office of Buildings and Facilities looks after this urban green infrastructure as a living landscape. It plants native, drought-tolerant trees, uses water-saving irrigation, and keeps planting trees and upgrading shaded plazas and pathways. These spaces are full of people. In February 2026, the SPU Love & Luck Festival filled Lan Hookwang and the tree-lined grounds with open-air music, food stalls and outdoor film screenings. Secondary school and university bands from across Bangkok competed on its stage, including the champion team from Triam Udom Suksa School. At SPU Chonburi, the ninth Walk-Run for Health invited the general public onto a campus route.
Open green space brings visible benefits. Residents gain a safe, free place to walk, rest and gather, young people from other institutions experience university life first-hand, and the trees cool the surrounding streets. The approach reflects SPU’s commitment to inclusive, sustainable cities and communities and its Alpha Ready Reinventing Roadmap 2026–2030. Under that roadmap the university acts as an open platform connecting university, industry and society.
At SPU, the campus belongs to the city.
Its green, open grounds remain free and welcoming to everyone who needs a place to breathe, move and connect.
