Sripatum University (SPU) has taken a decisive step for the climate: a university-wide commitment to divest from coal and oil and invest in renewable energy and low-carbon solutions—backed by clear governance and public transparency.
First established in 2018 and revised in 2022, SPU’s Energy and Environmental Conservation Policy commits the university to remove investments from carbon-intensive industries and channel support toward cleaner alternatives such as solar and wind. A standing Energy and Environmental Conservation Committee oversees policy rollout, procurement alignment, and disclosure.
This financial shift is matched by tangible operations: solar panel installations, campus-wide LED retrofits, and automated temperature controls that cut energy demand. SPU’s SDGs website documents these actions and the divestment stance, ensuring stakeholders can track progress. In parallel, teaching and research translate the agenda into practice—such as sustainable hotel marketing studies within the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality—equipping students to lead low-carbon transitions across industry.
Together, governance, investment, and learning reinforce a campus model that reduces emissions while building future-ready skills.
By divesting from fossil fuels and investing in clean energy, SPU is proving that universities can align finance, infrastructure, and education to accelerate a just, low-carbon future.

มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุม (SPU) เดินหน้าก้าวสำคัญด้านสภาพภูมิอากาศ ด้วยคำมั่น ยุติการลงทุนในถ่านหินและน้ำมัน และหันไปสนับสนุน พลังงานหมุนเวียนและโซลูชันคาร์บอนต่ำ โดยมีธรรมาภิบาลและความโปร่งใสที่ชัดเจน
