SPU Champions Waste Management through Sustainable Landfill Policy
Sripatum University reinforces its green leadership by implementing a landfill waste policy aligned with global SDG goals, creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable campus community.
As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, Sripatum University (SPU) has taken a strategic step toward effective waste management through a well-structured landfill disposal policy. Spearheaded by the Office of Buildings and Facilities, the initiative reflects strong alignment with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, particularly 12.2.4 — Landfill and recycling reduction policy. By separating waste at the source and minimizing landfill reliance, SPU encourages sustainable behavior among students and staff.
The university’s partnership with the Chatuchak District Office ensures daily waste collection and proper disposal per Bangkok’s municipal regulations. This supports SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, promoting clean, safe environments within and around the university. The waste separation system, which includes categories such as recyclables, wet waste, hazardous waste, and general waste, also helps foster responsible resource use — echoing the goals of SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being by reducing exposure to harmful waste and supporting hygienic campus conditions.
SPU also allocates a dedicated budget for staff training and waste awareness campaigns, ensuring that the landfill policy is implemented with full engagement. These activities further reinforce environmental education (SDG 4), decent working conditions (SDG 8), and institutional accountability (SDG 16). By tracking impacts and planning for continual improvement, the university showcases its commitment to long-term environmental stewardship.
This landfill policy is more than a campus regulation — it’s a vision in action. ในฐานะที่เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยที่มุ่งมั่นพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุม (SPU) ได้นำเสนอนโยบายการจัดการขยะในรูปแบบการกำจัดผ่านระบบหลุมฝังกลบที่ชัดเจนและเป็นระบบ โดยอยู่ภายใต้การดำเนินงานของสำนักงานอาคารสถานที่ ซึ่งสะท้อนความสอดคล้องกับ SDG 12: การบริโภคและการผลิตที่ยั่งยืน โดยเฉพาะเป้าหมายย่อย 12.2.4 ที่เน้นการลดการใช้หลุมฝังกลบและส่งเสริมการรีไซเคิล
SPU ดำเนินการจัดเก็บขยะร่วมกับสำนักงานเขตจตุจักรทุกวัน เพื่อการกำจัดที่ปลอดภัยตามกฎระเบียบของกรุงเทพมหานคร และสร้างพื้นที่มหาวิทยาลัยที่สะอาด ปลอดภัย ซึ่งตอบโจทย์ SDG 11: เมืองและชุมชนที่ยั่งยืน ขณะเดียวกัน การแยกขยะเป็นหมวดหมู่ ได้แก่ ขยะรีไซเคิล ขยะเปียก ขยะอันตราย และขยะทั่วไป ยังช่วยลดการใช้ทรัพยากรเกินจำเป็น และลดผลกระทบต่อสุขภาพ ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับ SDG 3: สุขภาพและความเป็นอยู่ที่ดี
มหาวิทยาลัยยังได้จัดสรรงบประมาณเพื่อฝึกอบรมบุคลากร จัดกิจกรรมสร้างความตระหนัก และส่งเสริมวัฒนธรรมการจัดการขยะอย่างมีส่วนร่วม ซึ่งเชื่อมโยงไปถึงการศึกษาเพื่อความยั่งยืน (SDG 4), สภาพแวดล้อมการทำงานที่ปลอดภัย (SDG 8) และธรรมาภิบาลของสถาบัน (SDG 16) การติดตามและประเมินผลอย่างต่อเนื่องช่วยตอกย้ำเจตจำนงในการพัฒนาสิ่งแวดล้อมอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม
นโยบายหลุมฝังกลบของ SPU จึงไม่ใช่เพียงแนวทางปฏิบัติ แต่คือ “วิสัยทัศน์ที่มีชีวิต” ที่ทำให้การดำเนินงานประจำวัน กลายเป็นพลังในการขับเคลื่อนเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนในระดับชาติและระดับโลกอย่างแท้จริง
