For a student from a low-income family, getting into university is only half the challenge; the harder part is staying until graduation. Sripatum University (SPU) treats completion as a shared responsibility and focuses its help on those facing the greatest financial barriers. Thailand’s Student Loan Fund (SLF) offers low-interest, non-commercial loans to families with limited income. SPU also waives tuition for the whole degree for students in the care of the Rajaprajanugroh Foundation under Royal Patronage and for Southern Border Provinces scholars.

The Scholarship Office runs this support as one continuous programme. Loan applicants pay only a small deposit at registration, and the loan covers the rest of tuition once approved. In September 2025, an SLF delegation worked with the office on campus to hear from borrowers, coach them on financial planning and simplify document checks for faster approvals. In June 2026, Krungthai Bank opened loan accounts on campus so first-year borrowers could receive living allowances on time.
Income while studying matters just as much, and SPU offers several routes:
- Business: the Learn to Earn track lets digital marketing students earn from real projects through BUSWORK; one student said the income helps cover his family’s expenses.
- Cooperative education: paid CWIE placements were showcased at the Ministry of Labour’s Learn to Earn forum in August 2025.
- Communication Arts: Sim Agency gives students real briefs from brands and organisations.
- Entrepreneurship: the SPU AI Club helps members turn AI skills into income.
- Hospitality: DEK THAI CATH-Club placed students at the Dior Gala Dinner with Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok in March 2026.
- Part-time work: the Cooperative Education and Career Development Center posts vacancies for students.
The result is fewer moments when money forces a student to stop. Borrowers receive funds on time, families carry a lighter load, and students graduate with financial skills and a professional portfolio. This work advances poverty reduction, quality education and reduced inequalities through partnerships with government, financial institutions and industry. It also supports SPU’s Excellence Development Plan 2026–2030 (Alpha Ready Roadmap) for work-ready graduates. Next, SPU will track borrowers’ progress more closely and widen paid learning opportunities, giving priority to students in financial need.
At SPU, a family’s income should shape the support a student receives, not whether that student graduates.
Fair finance, steady care and real chances to earn keep the path to a degree open all the way to commencement day.
