From rooftop panels on Building 11 to new solar walkway lights, Sripatum University measures how much clean energy powers its campus, and turns that data into climate action.

Climate action starts with knowing your numbers. Under its Energy and Environmental Conservation Policy, Sripatum University (SPU) prefers renewable energy, above all solar power, to fossil fuels. To make that commitment measurable, the Office of Building and Facilities tracks low-carbon energy use across the whole university, so the campus knows exactly how much of its electricity comes from the sun.
SPU’s rooftop solar PV system on Building 11 has been monitored since 2017. Its online monitoring platform shows, almost in real time, how much power the panels are producing, how much the building is consuming, how much electricity is being bought from the grid and how much CO2 has been avoided, both for the day and in total. In late 2025 the university added solar-powered lighting along campus walkways and roads, extending clean energy into the spaces students and staff use every day. Every building’s purchased electricity is also metered and compiled in SPU’s 2025 Energy Management Report, submitted to the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE). Together, these records give SPU a clear picture of its solar share, its total energy footprint and the emissions it has avoided.
Climate action starts with knowing your numbers.
This transparent, data-driven approach supports SPU’s Alpha Ready Roadmap and its commitment to carbon neutrality. The data shows where to save energy and where to add clean generation. The campus also serves as a living lab, where engineering students learn renewable energy management first-hand. The next step is to publish solar and total energy data together on a regular basis, so the whole SPU community can follow the progress.
By measuring every kilowatt-hour of clean energy it uses, Sripatum University turns its climate commitment into evidence, and builds a smarter, lower-carbon campus for the next generation.
