Open by Design: SPU’s Annual Sustainability Report Puts Its SDG Progress in Public View

Every year, Sripatum University shows the public its sustainability record. From campus to United Nations forums, SPU students and staff are the story behind the SPU SDGs Report.

Cover of the SDGs SPU Sustainability Report 2024Sustainability claims mean little unless people can check them. That is why Sripatum University (SPU) publishes a dedicated sustainability report every year, in an unbroken series since its 2022 edition. The report is prepared under the Assistant to the President for Sustainability with data from faculties and support units. It brings SPU’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance into one place and measures it against the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The SPU SDGs Report 2024, covering 2024-2025, was released in November 2025 as a free PDF on the SPU SDGs website, with no login required.

The report covers sustainability education in the curriculum and research that serves society. On campus operations, it reports rooftop solar, energy-efficient upgrades, water conservation, waste separation and recycling through the Garbage Bank, and carbon reduction. Students and staff carry this work well beyond the page:

  • They planted trees with communities in Pak Chong, opened the campus to neighbourhood children through “Sripatum Song Suk Su Chumchon #2”, and gave blood with the Thai Red Cross.
  • SPU students won sustainability awards at the Asian Sustainable Campus Network and SUN Thailand forums in February 2026.
  • They took SPU’s voice to the United Nations: a student was named a Winning Youth Shadow in Ambassador for a Day 2026, student leaders joined “80 Years of Thailand and the UN”, International Business students took part in the UN conference on Climate Change and SDG Synergy, and a student was selected as one of 20 SDGs Young Creators in Thailand under the UN Global Compact.

Sustainability claims mean little unless people can check them.

Regular, open reporting builds a habit of measuring what matters. It shows where SPU is moving forward and where more work is needed, and it invites the community to hold the university to account. This sustainability disclosure supports the transparent-governance pillar of SPU’s Alpha Ready Roadmap, where SDG goals are part of how the university is managed. As a good practice, each annual cycle links data collection, reporting and planning, so every edition sharpens the next.

By publishing its sustainability performance year after year, and by giving students and staff a voice from local communities to UN forums, Sripatum University treats transparency as a responsibility rather than a formality. SPU invites everyone to read the report, follow its progress and help build a more sustainable future.
