SPU Strengthens Environmental Safety with Toxic Waste Disposal Policy
Sripatum University (SPU) has taken decisive action to ensure environmental and community safety through a robust toxic waste management policy. This initiative is directly aligned with SDG 12.2.4 and 15.4.3, focusing on the safe disposal of hazardous waste and reducing land ecosystem harm.
Led by the Office of Facilities, SPU has implemented strict protocols to segregate and safely store toxic waste, including chemicals, electronic waste, and laboratory byproducts. The waste is clearly labeled and collected in secure containers, then transferred to certified disposal centers under coordination with the Pollution Control Department. These efforts ensure compliance with national environmental regulations while supporting SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and SDG 6.3.2 (Pollution prevention in water systems).
Beyond containment, SPU takes proactive measures to reduce the generation of toxic waste at its source. By encouraging the use of eco-friendly materials and controlling chemical inventories, the university mitigates risks associated with hazardous materials, advancing SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
Education plays a vital role. Students and staff receive training on safe toxic waste handling, echoing the values of SDG 4.3.5 and 17.4.3, which promote sustainability literacy. SPU also champions electronic waste recycling initiatives, helping reduce contamination risks from heavy metals—thereby contributing to both SDG 12.4.1 and SDG 14 (Life Below Water), which is impacted by upstream land waste.
This integrated policy reflects SPU’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure and environmental stewardship, furthering the mission of SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). With systematic procedures and cross-sectoral coordination, Sripatum University ensures that waste management becomes a pillar of safety, sustainability, and institutional leadership.

นอกจากนี้ SPU ยังลดการเกิดขยะพิษตั้งแต่ต้นทาง ด้วยการควบคุมการใช้สารเคมีและส่งเสริมวัสดุที่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม ซึ่งเป็นการสนับสนุน SDG 13 และ SDG 15 ในด้านการปรับตัวต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศและการปกป้องระบบนิเวศทางบก
ด้านการศึกษา SPU ได้จัดอบรมความรู้ให้กับนักศึกษาและบุคลากรเกี่ยวกับการจัดการขยะพิษอย่างปลอดภัย ตามเป้าหมาย SDG 4.3.5 และ 17.4.3 พร้อมผลักดันการรีไซเคิลขยะอิเล็กทรอนิกส์เพื่อลดสารโลหะหนักที่อาจรั่วไหลลงสู่ดินและน้ำ สนับสนุน SDG 12.4.1 และ SDG 14
