SPU Champions Plastic Waste Reduction to Build a Greener Future
Sripatum University (SPU) has taken a firm stand in tackling plastic waste through a campus-wide policy aimed at transforming consumption behaviors and reducing environmental impact. The initiative is aligned directly with SDG 12.2.5 and 12.2.4, which call for policies to minimize plastic use and hazardous waste, reinforcing the university’s commitment to sustainable development.
Spearheaded by the Office of Facilities, SPU’s policy addresses three core areas: reducing single-use plastic, promoting responsible water consumption, and enhancing green space management. Plastic bag and food container use has been significantly curtailed, with students and staff encouraged to adopt reusable alternatives. Complementing this is a network of high-quality drinking water dispensers that replace bottled water usage, cultivating sustainable hydration habits. These measures reflect operational alignment with SDG 6.3.3 (free drinking water access), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
The university’s waste segregation practices also enable proper recycling and waste reduction, advancing SDG 12.3.1 and 12.3.2. Green space expansion across the campus improves air quality, reduces temperature, and absorbs CO₂, supporting SDG 15.4.2 and SDG 13.2.1.
Beyond operations, SPU fosters awareness and culture change. Through campus-wide campaigns, students and staff are engaged in sustainability learning and lifestyle transformation—aligning with SDG 4.3.5 and SDG 17.4.3.
The impact is tangible: less plastic ends up in landfills, community responsibility rises, and future graduates embrace sustainability at their core. SPU continues to lead by example, weaving sustainability into everyday life, campus culture, and national environmental goals.

SPU เดินหน้านโยบายลดขยะพลาสติก มุ่งสู่อนาคตที่ยั่งยืน
มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุม (SPU) มุ่งมั่นลดขยะพลาสติกในพื้นที่มหาวิทยาลัยอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม โดยออกนโยบายครอบคลุมทั้งการเปลี่ยนพฤติกรรมการบริโภคและการบริหารจัดการพื้นที่อย่างยั่งยืน สอดคล้องโดยตรงกับเป้าหมาย SDG 12.2.5 และ 12.2.4 ซึ่งเน้นการลดการใช้พลาสติกและการจัดการของเสียที่เป็นอันตราย

มหาวิทยาลัยยังมีระบบแยกขยะตามประเภทเพื่อการรีไซเคิลที่เหมาะสม ซึ่งสอดคล้องกับ SDG 12.3.1 และ 12.3.2 การเพิ่มพื้นที่สีเขียวภายในมหาวิทยาลัยช่วยดูดซับ CO₂ ปรับอุณหภูมิ และสร้างบรรยากาศการเรียนรู้ที่ดี สอดคล้องกับ SDG 15.4.2 และ SDG 13.2.1
