Sripatum University (SPU) continues its commitment to sustainability by implementing a comprehensive campus-wide strategy to reduce water usage. The program has already achieved a reduction in water consumption of over 20% year-on-year, fully aligning with SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation — particularly sub-goals 6.3 and 6.3.1, which focus on efficient use of water resources and sustainable wastewater management.
SPU’s key initiatives include pressure-reducing devices on faucets, automated sprinkler systems for green areas, and wastewater recycling systems for non-potable reuse such as irrigation. These measures directly address excessive freshwater use and limit wastewater discharge, resulting in more environmentally friendly operations and reduced utility costs.
One standout initiative is the sprinkler system in campus gardens, which operates on timers to ensure plants receive only the water they need.
