SPU Powers Sustainable Progress with Energy Efficiency Commitment
Sripatum University (SPU) is leading the way in energy sustainability by reducing its energy use density while expanding its reliance on clean, renewable energy. In alignment with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 7 — ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all — SPU has implemented forward-thinking strategies to optimize energy consumption across its campuses.
To monitor and minimize energy waste, the university performs routine inspections of electrical, lighting, and air-conditioning systems, complemented by the adoption of LED lighting and automated building controls. These efforts fall directly under SDG 7.3.1, which measures energy consumed per square metre, and are bolstered by the university’s installation of solar panels to support SDG 7.5.1, which promotes the use of low-carbon energy sources.
The Office of Buildings and Grounds plays a central role in managing energy policy and legal compliance, submitting annual reports to Thailand’s Ministry of Energy. This commitment not only supports national greenhouse gas reduction policies but also reflects broader engagement with SDG 13.2.1 and SDG 13.2.2, which focus on tracking and increasing the use of low-carbon energy.
Looking ahead, SPU has set an ambitious target to reduce its energy use per area by an additional 10% by 2025. Through consistent energy audits, sustainable infrastructure, and collaboration with government agencies, the university exemplifies the integration of educational stewardship with environmental responsibility — a strong testament to its dedication to SDG 11.4.8 (sustainable building standards), SDG 12.2.1 (ethical sourcing), and SDG 17.4.1 (institution-wide SDG education).
By championing these strategies, SPU is not only enhancing its campus environment but also modeling best practices in sustainable development that resonate nationally and globally.

มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุม (SPU) เดินหน้านำร่องการพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืนด้านพลังงาน ด้วยการลดปริมาณการใช้พลังงานต่อพื้นที่ควบคู่ไปกับการเพิ่มสัดส่วนการใช้พลังงานสะอาดอย่างต่อเนื่อง โดยสอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนข้อที่ 7 ของสหประชาชาติ ที่มุ่งเน้นการเข้าถึงพลังงานสะอาดในราคาที่เหมาะสมอย่างทั่วถึงและยั่งยืน
SPU มีมาตรการตรวจสอบระบบไฟฟ้า แสงสว่าง และเครื่องปรับอากาศอย่างสม่ำเสมอ พร้อมทั้งนำเทคโนโลยีประหยัดพลังงาน เช่น หลอดไฟ LED และระบบควบคุมอัตโนมัติมาใช้ในอาคารหลายแห่ง ซึ่งสอดคล้องโดยตรงกับตัวชี้วัด SDG 7.3.1 (การใช้พลังงานต่อพื้นที่) และการติดตั้งแผงโซลาร์เซลล์เพื่อผลิตพลังงานสะอาดที่สนับสนุนเป้าหมาย SDG 7.5.1
