From ballot boxes in every faculty to seats on university committees, SPU students are learning democracy by practising it.
Good governance starts with listening. Sripatum University (SPU) is overseen by its University Council, the highest governing body established under Thailand’s Private Higher Education Institutions Act, with full-time academic staff among its members. Alongside this formal structure, the SPU Regulation on the Student Union gives students a democratic route into university decision-making, reflecting community voices and promoting internal democracy.
Each year, undergraduate members elect the Student Union executive board, and every faculty holds its own democratic election for a faculty student committee. The elected Student Union President speaks for the student body, nominates students to university committees, and works with student union representatives on the University Student Affairs Board, which shapes activities and welfare. In 2026 the newly elected board introduced its priorities to SPU’s executive leadership. These priorities cover student rights and welfare, inclusive self-expression and a Student Leadership Camp where leaders from all faculties co-sign a shared declaration.
The outcome is a campus where students practise accountability, negotiation and civic responsibility, skills that support SPU’s goal of developing future-ready graduates. By keeping elected student voices close to university decisions, SPU builds institutional trust and lays the groundwork for wider participation of staff and students in governance.

จากหีบเลือกตั้งในทุกคณะ สู่ที่นั่งในคณะกรรมการของมหาวิทยาลัย นักศึกษา SPU เรียนรู้ประชาธิปไตยด้วยการลงมือทำจริง มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุมเปิดพื้นที่ให้เสียงของนักศึกษาสะท้อนสู่การตัดสินใจของมหาวิทยาลัย ผ่านระบบผู้แทนที่มาจากการเลือกตั้ง
ธรรมาภิบาลที่ดีเริ่มจากการรับฟัง มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุมมีสภามหาวิทยาลัยเป็นองค์กรกำกับดูแลสูงสุด จัดตั้งตาม พ.ร.บ.สถาบันอุดมศึกษาเอกชน โดยมีคณาจารย์ประจำร่วมเป็นกรรมการ ควบคู่กับโครงสร้างประชาธิปไตยตามระเบียบมหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุม ว่าด้วยสโมสรนักศึกษา ซึ่งเปิดช่องทางให้นักศึกษามีส่วนร่วมในการตัดสินใจ
ทุกปี นักศึกษาปริญญาตรีเลือกตั้งคณะกรรมการบริหารสโมสรนักศึกษา และทุกคณะจัดการเลือกตั้งคณะกรรมการนักศึกษาคณะ นายกสโมสรที่มาจากการเลือกตั้งทำหน้าที่เป็นผู้แทนนักศึกษา เสนอนักศึกษาเข้าร่วมเป็นกรรมการของมหาวิทยาลัย และร่วมกับผู้แทนสโมสรในคณะกรรมการบริหารงานกิจการนักศึกษา ซึ่งกำหนดทิศทางกิจกรรมและสวัสดิการ
ธรรมาภิบาลที่ดีเริ่มจากการรับฟัง
ในปี 2569 คณะกรรมการสโมสรชุดใหม่ได้นำเสนอแนวทางการดำเนินงานต่อผู้บริหารมหาวิทยาลัย ครอบคลุม 3 เรื่อง ได้แก่ สิทธิและสวัสดิการนักศึกษา การแสดงออกอย่างหลากหลาย และค่ายผู้นำนักศึกษาที่ผู้นำจากทุกคณะร่วมลงนามในปฏิญญาร่วมกัน
ผลที่เกิดขึ้นคือนักศึกษาได้ฝึกความรับผิดชอบ การเจรจา และความเป็นพลเมือง สอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายการสร้างบัณฑิตพร้อมอนาคตของ SPU และเป็นฐานสู่การขยายการมีส่วนร่วมของบุคลากรและนักศึกษาในธรรมาภิบาลมหาวิทยาลัย
ที่ SPU ประชาธิปไตยไม่ใช่บทเรียนที่สอนครั้งเดียว แต่เป็นวิถีที่ปฏิบัติทุกปี เพื่อให้ทุกเสียงร่วมสร้างมหาวิทยาลัยของเรา
