Every Second Counts: SPU Empowers Community with Life-Saving CPR and AED Skills

SPU School of Digital Media Partners with the Department of Health to Equip Students and Staff with Essential First Aid and Resuscitation Capabilities

Unforeseen health emergencies can happen anywhere at any moment. In those critical seconds, action powered by knowledge and confidence makes all the difference. Sripatum University (SPU), through the School of Digital Media (SDM) staff and students, actively participated in a specialized Basic Life Support (BLS) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training session, conducted by expert trainers from the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health.

This initiative highlights SPU’s dedication to community well-being, directly advancing SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being under SDG 3.3 Collaborations and health services, specifically SDG 3.3.1 Current collaborations with health institutions through national healthcare partnerships, and SDG 3.3.2 Health outreach programmes designed to elevate safety standards for staff and students.

Participants gained hands-on experience using simulation mannequins, mastering essential protocols including first aid, choking intervention, seizure management, and performing CPR alongside AED operation. This practical capacity-building aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education under SDG 4.3 Lifelong learning measures, specifically SDG 4.3.3 Vocational training events (lifelong learning).

Furthermore, this collaborative framework exemplifies SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals under SDG 17.2 Relationships to support the goals, specifically SDG 17.2.1 Relationships with regional NGOs and government for SDG policy, bridging academia and government to foster a safer society.

Because life-saving knowledge is more than just a skill—it is the power to give someone a second chance at life. SPU continues to cultivate active citizens ready to serve their communities in times of crisis.
