SPU Surpasses Carbon Neutral Goal with Solar Roof and Green Policies
Sripatum University sets higher benchmarks in climate action by cutting CO₂ emissions beyond its annual reduction target, reinforcing SDG 13 and clean energy transition.
Sripatum University (SPU) has announced major progress in its journey to become a Carbon Neutral University, committing to reduce at least 100 tons of CO₂ annually. Thanks to the Solar Roof project on Building 11, SPU has already outperformed this target, cutting 116.14 tons of CO₂ per year, while reducing operational costs and advancing its environmental leadership.
The achievement is part of SPU’s wider climate strategy under SDG 13.4.1, with the Office of Facilities leading projects to integrate sustainable practices into everyday operations. Beyond solar energy, SPU has introduced LED lighting, energy-efficient cooling systems, and comprehensive waste reduction and recycling programs. The university is also exploring wind and hydropower solutions to further diversify its renewable energy portfolio.
This multi-faceted approach ensures that SPU’s climate action is not limited to infrastructure alone. By embedding awareness campaigns and education programs across the campus, the university strengthens a sustainability culture among students and staff, aligning with global goals for long-term carbon neutrality.

มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุม (SPU) ประกาศความก้าวหน้าครั้งสำคัญสู่การเป็น Carbon Neutral University ด้วยเป้าหมายการลดก๊าซคาร์บอนไดออกไซด์อย่างน้อย 100 ตันต่อปี ซึ่งปัจจุบันมหาวิทยาลัยทำได้เกินกว่าเป้าหมายแล้ว จากการดำเนินโครงการ โซล่ารูฟบนอาคาร 11 ที่สามารถลดการปล่อย CO₂ ได้ถึง 116.14 ตันต่อปี พร้อมทั้งช่วยลดค่าใช้จ่ายด้านพลังงานอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ
