How did your passion for graphic design begin?
I have always been interested in design. It all started with just having fun and experimenting, making memes of friends for laughs. Over time, I realized I really enjoyed it, so I began exploring different techniques and styles, continuously studying and improving my design skills.
Why did you choose Digital Media at SPU?
Compared to other universities, SPU stands out in many aspects. The curriculum encourages creativity and hands-on learning, offering diverse activities that help students discover and develop their full potential. The university provides state-of-the-art technology and equipment, and the faculty members are experienced, supportive, and approachable.
What have you learned from Year 1 to now?
• Year 1: Focused on traditional art skills, such as drawing, composition, and color theory, laying a solid foundation for design.
• Year 2: Started working with digital tools, learning Typography, Packaging Design, Corporate Identity, and Print Media Design.
• Year 3: Delved into advertising, marketing, and multimedia design.
• Year 4 (Upcoming): Planning to intern with the “ART IN THE MALL” team at The Mall Group, where I aim to gain real-world experience from industry professionals.
From Thailand Design Creator 2024 to the Global Stage
I learned about the Thailand Design Creator 2024 competition through my professors, who encouraged me to compete for new experiences. With their guidance and training, I became one of the top 100 competitors nationwide and ultimately won the national championship, earning the honor of representing Thailand at the Adobe Certified Professional World Championship 2024 in the U.S.A.
Confidence as Thailand’s Representative
I had only a month and a half to prepare. My strategy was to train intensively every day, focusing on Illustrator and Photoshop techniques, and practicing with real past competition briefs. Competing against almost 30 countries worldwide, I gained new experiences, skills, friendships, and international exposure, making this journey truly unforgettable.
Design Concept for the Global Competition
The competition challenged us to promote digital literacy in education, with the concept “Click for a Digital Future.” We had 8 hours to create our designs based on provided elements and requirements. My work revolved around the idea of accessing education through digital skills, showcasing how a single click can open doors to learning opportunities in the digital era.
Lessons from the Competition
I improved my graphic design skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. I also learned how to analyze client needs, develop clear concepts, and refine my design workflow.
Advice for Future Competitors
If you aspire to represent Thailand in next year’s competition, focus on communication in your designs. Clarity and purpose are just as important as aesthetics. A great designer is not just about making things look good—it’s about delivering the right message to the target audience.
Future Plans After Graduation
I want to contribute to the Thai gaming industry as an Art Director. I have already started planning and forming a team with my friends to develop Thai games for the global market.
A Message to #Dek68 Who Are Passionate About Digital Media
Many people hesitate to step out of their comfort zones. I was one of them—I started my journey in Digital Media with no formal art background. But with a clear goal and determination, you can achieve anything. SPU has industry-expert professors who mentor, support, and provide hands-on opportunities. So, never give up on your passion—keep creating and pushing forward!
