With a campus beside BTS Bang Bua station, official rail travel guides and a safer neighbourhood walkway, Sripatum University is turning sustainable commuting into an everyday habit.

Traffic congestion is one of Bangkok’s biggest pressures on air quality and daily life. Sripatum University (SPU) has made public transport the first choice for getting to its Bangkhen campus, which sits right beside BTS Bang Bua station. SPU publishes official “Getting to SPU” guides for students, staff and applicants. The guides set out BTS and MRT routes, where to change lines, journey times, a map of the city’s rail network and bus connections. Its rail route page was refreshed in October 2025, so the whole community can plan a car-free journey with confidence.
Commuting sustainably also depends on the walk at either end of the trip. The Faculties of Engineering and Architecture & Design worked with the Bang Bua community to improve a canal-side walkway with smart lighting. The walkway links the neighbourhood to the Phahonyothin Road transit corridor. In June 2026, faculty and students returned to promote the route, invite residents to walk and gather their feedback. Other measures support the same goal. SPU encourages students to reach parks and city destinations by BTS and MRT. Hybrid Learning lets theory-course students study online and avoid unnecessary trips. Open learning on electric and next-generation vehicles, together with railway engineering training alongside Bangkok’s metro operators, builds the knowledge behind cleaner urban mobility.
Together, these actions shift everyday travel away from private cars toward rail, buses and walking. They cut congestion and emissions around campus and make journeys safer for students, staff and neighbours. The work reflects SPU’s Alpha Ready Roadmap and its commitment to sustainable cities. Next, SPU plans to keep improving transit information and pedestrian links for its community.
At SPU, the greener journey starts at the station gate.
At SPU, the greener journey starts at the station gate. The university will keep making public transport and walking the easiest way to learn, work and connect.
