From sketches at kitchen tables to pilot retrofits on real streets, Sripatum University and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration are turning co-design into concrete change for residents who need accessible, affordable homes.
In 2024, SPU launched a district-level collaboration with the Bang Khen District Office to co-plan accessible housing for people with disabilities. In 2025–2026, the partnership deepens: the School of Architecture runs barrier-free audits and co-creation studios with residents and local leaders; the School of Engineering develops practical retrofit kits—ramp gradients, door-width solutions, non-slip surfaces, and low-cost bathroom adaptations—and tests them on pilot homes; the School of Communication Arts captures stories and publishes progress for transparency and replication.
This is more than a design exercise. It is a planning workflow with local authorities—site surveys, option appraisal, costed drawings, and a district playbook that communities can reuse. The team is aligning retrofit options with local budgets and programs so households can realistically adopt solutions. Training sessions for contractors and student volunteers ensure the know-how stays in the neighbourhood. As results accumulate, the partners will share open templates and checklists so other Bangkok districts can adapt the model.
Together with local authorities and residents, SPU is proving that inclusive planning can move fast, cost less, and last longer—one safer doorway and one barrier-free bathroom at a time.

บางเขน Accessible Homes 2.0: SPU จับมือ กทม. ขยายแบบร่วมออกแบบชุมชน
จากสเก็ตช์บนโต๊ะกินข้าว สู่การปรับปรุงบ้านต้นแบบบนถนนจริง มหาวิทยาลัยศรีปทุมและสำนักงานเขตบางเขนกำลังทำให้ “ร่วมออกแบบ” กลายเป็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่จับต้องได้ เพื่อที่อยู่อาศัยที่เข้าถึงได้และเอื้อมถึงสำหรับประชาชน
ในปี 2024 SPU เปิดความร่วมมือระดับเขตกับสำนักงานเขตบางเขน เพื่อวางแผนที่อยู่อาศัยที่เข้าถึงได้สำหรับผู้พิการ และในปี 2025–2026 โครงการเดินหน้าต่อ: คณะสถาปัตยกรรมศาสตร์ดำเนินการสำรวจอุปสรรคและสตูดิโอร่วมออกแบบกับชุมชนและผู้นำท้องถิ่น; คณะวิศวกรรมศาสตร์พัฒนาชุดปรับปรุงบ้านที่ใช้งานได้จริง—ทางลาด มาตรประตู พื้นกันลื่น ห้องน้ำปลอดภัย ต้นทุนต่ำ—และทดสอบในบ้านนำร่อง; คณะนิเทศศาสตร์บันทึกเรื่องราวและเผยแพร่ความคืบหน้าบนเพจ SDGs ของ SPU เพื่อความโปร่งใสและการขยายผล
นี่ไม่ใช่แค่การออกแบบ แต่คือกระบวนการวางผังร่วมกับภาครัฐ—สำรวจพื้นที่ ประเมินทางเลือก แบบก่อสร้างพร้อมประมาณการ และคู่มือระดับเขตที่ชุมชนใช้ซ้ำได้ ทีมงานปรับแบบให้สอดคล้องกับงบประมาณและโครงการท้องถิ่น เพื่อให้ครัวเรือนนำไปใช้ได้จริง พร้อมจัดอบรมผู้รับเหมาและอาสานักศึกษาเพื่อให้ความรู้คงอยู่ในพื้นที่ เมื่อมีผลลัพธ์เพิ่มขึ้น คู่มือและเช็กลิสต์จะถูกเปิดเผยเพื่อให้เขตอื่นของกรุงเทพฯ นำไปดัดแปลงได้
ด้วยพลังของภาครัฐ ชุมชน และมหาวิทยาลัย SPU พิสูจน์ว่า “การวางแผนแบบครอบคลุม” ทำได้เร็ว คุ้มค่า และยั่งยืน—เริ่มจากประตูบ้านที่ปลอดภัยขึ้นและห้องน้ำไร้อุปสรรคทีละหลัง
