Teams use BIM (Building Information Modelling) to simulate designs before work begins. An annual building inspection checks safety and structural compliance, and qualified technicians inspect electrical, gas and fire systems.

During 2025–2026 the university expanded solar rooftop installations on Building 11 and across campus. It also completed a full refit of the fourth floor of Building 1 in April 2026, with open-plan offices, a new meeting hall and lounge, LED lighting and high-efficiency ceiling air-conditioning. Lecture rooms on other floors received new air-conditioning with digital controls, and a new flight-simulator lab opened on the twelfth floor of Building 11. The Energy Management Committee tracks performance and submits the statutory energy management report to DEDE every year.

The impact reaches beyond campus. The School of Engineering trains professionals as TREES green-building specialists and certified building inspectors. Its students practise low-carbon design through the BIM Contest with the Engineering Institute of Thailand. Its civil engineers also advised a local municipality on strengthening a childcare centre against earthquakes. Together, these efforts support resilient, sustainable cities and SPU’s Alpha Ready Roadmap toward a smart, low-carbon campus.

Every new building and every renovated floor is a commitment to a safer, greener and more resilient city.

At SPU, sustainable construction is a standard, not an option.
