From a Council-approved work protection committee to campus-wide forums, sports days and health checks, SPU makes fair work a shared right, for every colleague regardless of gender or nationality.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

At Sripatum University (SPU), decent work starts with recognising that every employee has rights, and the means to use them. Academic and support staff, women and men, Thai and international colleagues stand on the same footing. Under the Private Higher Education Institution Act and the Ministerial Regulation on work protection in private universities, SPU maintains the University Work Protection Committee, appointed by Order 486\/2565 with University Council approval. Its members include independent external experts, university leaders and a staff member. The Office of Human Resources and the Office of Legal Affairs act as its secretariat. The committee safeguards employment conditions and benefits, and is the final channel of appeal for staff. The Staff Equality Policy adds to this by ruling out unfair discrimination on grounds of sex, origin, race, ethnicity, language, religion, age or disability.<\/p>\n

Rights matter when people use them. The Staff Investigation Regulation, reaffirmed by the university’s policy review committee, gives every employee the right to be heard, to present evidence, to bring a lawyer or adviser, and to appeal.
